ABSTRACT

This research study conducted by Trisha Nicole Inay, Venus Bautista, Kim Jheremy Rosete,

Jayfrix Onzaga, and Robin Soriano explores how students from broken families developed resilience

through coping mechanisms in Sinait National High School.

Mr. Patrick John B. Concepcion

Practical research II adviser

The study aimed to investigate the coping mechanisms employed by students from broken

families and how these mechanisms help them cope with the challenges they face in their daily lives.

There were ten (10) respondents of the study particularly from Senior High School students

Phenomenological Research Design was used in determining the coping mechanisms of students from

broken families. The sampling design used by the researchers is purposive sampling and the researchers

used interview as their instruments in the gathering necessary data. The results of the study were analyzed

through the summary of the codes and themes, providing for more diverse analysis. The study was taken

from March – June 2023.

The researchers found that students from broken families employ various coping mechanisms

such as seeking social support, support from friends, self support, and acceptance to the situation, which

help them build resilience. The study provides insights into how we can support and empower students

from broken families to develop coping mechanisms and resilience to overcome the challenges they face.

To support and empower students from broken families:

1. Provide a safe and supportive learning environment.

2. Provide academic support.
3. Connect with mentorship programs or extracurricular activities.

4. Encourage goal-setting and provide support to achieve those goals.

The researchers recommended the following: It is recommended that the Phenomenological

Study should be used in order to study such an like the experiences of students from broken families

and their coping mechanism.Purposive sampling is also recommended in researches with the same

volume of participants as this sampling procedure involve in a group of non- probability sampling

techniques in which units are selected because they have characteristics that you need in your sample.

It is also recommended to conduct a face-to-face interview that answers the following questionnaires

that is being asked as the instrument in the data gathering
