Objectives:
By the of the lesson, students should be able to :

- ask for and give clear and correct information related to time
- ask for and give permission pertinently.

Procedure :
Setting the scene :

- T brings a clock and introduces the term "time"


- T makes a difference b/w a clock and a watch
- T introduces the terms : * the second hand of the clock
* the minute hand of the clock.
* the hour hand of the clock.

1/ What's the time / what time is it?

 It's eight o'clock = 8:00


 It's five past eight = 8:05
 It's ten past eight = 8:10
 It's a quarter / fifteen past eight = 8:15
 It's twenty past eight = 8:20
 It's twenty-five past eight = 8:25
 It's half past eight = 8:30
 It's twenty-five to nine = 8:35
 It's twenty to nine = 8:40
 It's a quarter to nine = 8:45
 It's ten to nine = 8:50
 It's five to nine = 8:55
 It's nine o'clock = 9:00

 In open pairs, students ask each other about time


2/ Expressing permission : Can I …?

T make use of some classroom situations to introduce the expression : Can I …?

T : Can I have your pen?


Student : Yes, you can
T : can I take your watch?
Student : No, you can't

Students ask each other in open pairs:

Can I eat a banana in the classroom?


Can I play football?
Can I change my place?
Can I go out ?
Can I sit near….?
Can I go home?
Can I drink some water?
Can I erase the BB ?
Can I write the lesson?
Etc…

3/ Role play :

One student comes in front of the class s/he plays the role of a teacher. SS asks him /her as many questions as
possible. The "new" teacher either accepts or refuses their permissions

4/ Pronunciation :

Short VS long vowels (part one)
