To start off discussion,

3. Show to the class on how to determine their pulse rate.

4. The students hear their own heart beat using their fingers.
5. Call for volunteers and have them share their pulse rates. Give them the pulse rate
information and verify their initial findings.

6. By Pair:
6.1 The students have their pair and listen to their partners heartbeat by placing the
tube (cardboard tube) over their partners’ heart. Let them count their heartbeat and
identify the sound of their heartbeat.

2. Explain the movement of air in a body is accomplished by breathing.
3. Discuss how the gas exchange occur when we inhale.

With their respective group, they will make a model of the lung using the materials
given by the teacher.

1. The teacher discuss the purposed of breathing and will also discuss the sequence of
breathing.
2. The teacher also identify the different functions of the organs involve on the respiratory
system.

3. Using the illustration used by the teacher, the students will make a concept map of the
breathing process. They will site the organs involved in the process. They will write their
map to the board.

4. Group Activity:
The students forms a big circle. In their respective groups, students will draw the
diagrammatic illustration of the breathing process. Using the cartolina provided by the
teacher.

5. In a ½ sheet of paper, the students will trace the movement of air as it enters the body by
putting a number on the blanks before the structures enumerated.
