Bayanihan refers to Filipino traditions of community assistance, where individuals volunteer to help neighbors and strangers without expectation of payment, especially in times of need such as natural disasters. Some key Filipino values demonstrated through Bayanihan acts include malasakit (empathy), pakikipagkapwa-tao (social reciprocity), and utang na loob (debt of gratitude). The author provides examples of witnessing communities coming together through Bayanihan to repair downed power lines after typhoons or help put out house fires.

Bayanihan is derived from the words bayan (community) and
bayani (heroes) happens when Filipinos unite to do heroic acts for
individual and communities in need without expecting anything in return. Giving aid without being asked, even to strangers is an enduring Filipino culture. The best identity of the Filipino is this value of Bayanihan, it is normal to the Philippines. You will notice that the Filipino values are very important. In when we hear Bayanihan, every one will volunteer. It has something to do with malasakit, pakikipagkapwa- tao, pagdadamayan, pakikisama and utang na loob. I had so many cases that I saw Bayanihan values especially when calamities happened like typhoon. When typhoon hits, and some electric post lay down, that is 100 percent sure that everyone will fix that and do the man power to help each other. One another example of Bayanihan values is when house is on fire, that is 100 percent sure that everyone in the neighbourhood will help to get the water to kill the fire. That is the reality of Bayanihan Acts of the Filipinos. As one of my experience wherein I involved in a Bayanihan Acts is when I helped my community to cut down the trees. We cut the trees so easily because o Bayanihan Act. It was a nice experience because the socialization is there, I met a lot of new friends and it was a nice and memorable experience. I notice the power of being together wherein I realized that, the best way to finish and enjoy the work is being with group of people helping each other and having a one goal. I am a Filipino and I value bayanihan. We Filipinos supports our countrymen in times of needed.
