ABSTRACT

The use of computers is becoming a daily activity of many people in both working and

leisure. For instance, Europeans spent two to three hours in front of a screen per day

outside of work. Computer System Coupling is the process of designing, building and

implementing a Computer System from scratch to meet specified requirement. The cost

of acquiring branded desktop computer system has increased tremendously partly as

result of the high exchange rate currently witness in Nigeria. The challenges are to

improve the configuration of a desktop computer with latest components to suit specified

capacity, boost systems functionality and minimize acquisition cost of branded system

with similar configuration. The project is aimed at designing, building and implementing

a core i5 desktop personal computer (PC) with specified configuration that will boost the

operational speed of processing information. Different hardware components needed to

build the core i5 desktop computer were clearly identified, the desktop computer was

assembled and the necessary software including the Windows 10 Operating System were

installed. The core i5 desktop was fully tested for functionalities, performance and

reliability and was found to be working appropriately.
