georj and kate: good morning everyone! We are group 2, and

here to present our group activity in science, prepared by our
advisor, ma’am meliz.
Kate: we’re sorry for the inconvenience with the manila paper!
We were out of resources, and we decided to improvise.
Georj: we hope our presentation replaces this mistake!
Kate: What is our problem?
Georj: We must differentiate homogeneous textures with
heterogeneous mixtures.
georj and kate: our materials were mongo seeds, red beans
and rice.
georj and kate: here are our observations!
Kate: in our observations in the rice, when we poured water in
the cup of rice, it gradually softens with hot water.
georj: for our observation in the mongo seeds, in a rare
instance, one mongo seed’s coating/covering detached itself.
However, nothing changed.
Kate: for our red beans, in a span of two minutes, there were
four red beans that had also detached itself from the base of
the bean. However, everything has stayed the same.
georj and kate: here are the activity’s questions!
Georj: what have you observed after mixing?
We have observed that some items in our experiment
have either gone soft, or remained the same as before.
Kate: can you still recognize the materials you mix?
Yes. we still had some of our items intact or slightly
detached from the seed/bean itself. However, the rice
remained soft, yet it still keeps its appearance.
Georj: between question 2a and 2b, which one has uniform
mixture and non-uniform mixture?
Even if they somewhat changed in the water, they do
not have a changed composition. So we can conclude that
these items are all non-uniform. Yes. this is a trick question, at
least for us.
Kate: based on our answer in the previous question, what
materials are soluble or insoluble?
Yet again, this is also a trick question, based on our
results in our observation, all our items insoluble. Even if they
changed in the hot water, it has simply changed it’s hard
texture to soft, or have not changed at all. Therefore, they are
all insoluble
Both: what have we learned??
Heterogeneous mixtures and homogeneous mixtures
are a way to say how other solubles/insolubles mix in a
solvent. Homogeneous mixtures are mixtures that when a
certain item (soluble) is mixed in with a solvent, it dissolves
and creates a solution. Heterogeneous mixtures, however,
are quite the opposite. This type of mixture does not mix
in/dissolve in water, and only makes a layer, and does not
uniform throughout the mixture.
Both: and that concludes our presentation!
I am georjeena,
And i am kate.
We are group 2, and thank you for listening!
