The document argues that the 1987 Philippine Constitution could be revised through charter change to make the country more open to reform. It acknowledges citizens' fears around charter change but suggests the decision may not be as bad for the future as some think. While the Constitution itself has not failed, the country's leaders have failed through corruption. Charter change has benefited other nations, so the document suggests the Philippines could also try reform to change its leaders and tweak the Constitution.

Citizens critique and fear the idea of charter change, but
would the decision really make it seem so bad for the future?
The 1987 Philippine Constitution may be revised, if it was
approved. Sure, there was a history that created the Constitution, which we also call the ‘Saligang Batas’, but why do we need to change the Constitution, when we have not resolved the problem deeper within; the people running the government?
Not only do we need to tweak the Constitution, but we
also need to change our leaders. Our law did not fail us, for our leaders have failed us instead. Corruption in the Senate is clear. Change is big, yes, but it doesn’t hurt to be more open.
I think charter change benefited other countries, so why
not try and change too? Yes, it’s a big step for the country and for our people and we don’t know what the future holds from there, but it doesn’t hurt to be more open.
