LESSON PLAN

SCIENCE 8

I. OBJECTIVES:
MELC: Explain the advantage of high biodiversity in maintaining the stability of an
ecosystem (S8LT-IVh-21).

Specific Objectives: at the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
1. Differentiate high from low biodiversity.
2. Give advantages of high over low biodiversity.
3. Recognize the importance of high biodiversity over low biodiversity ecosysytem.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

High and Low Biodiversity
MATERIALS:
Laptop, pictures

III. PROCEDURES:

A. MOTIVATION
Let the students guess the given examples that connects to the new
lesson. Given the pictures of different organisms, they will classify each of
them based on their similarities and what Kingdom they belong.
Kingdom Animalia Kingdom Plantae Kingdom Fungi

Examples:
Dog, mushroom, mango tree, yeast , santan, carabao

B. Establishing the purpose for the lesson

Presenting the objectives of the new lesson to be achieved in the activity.
C. Activity: Reminders: Always observe Health Protocol in doing all our activities
wear face mask and social distancing.
- Group the student into 4
- Let them perform the activity and answer the given questions.
( Students will analyze the pictures and identify whether the
ecosystem has high biodiversity or low biodiversity)

Ban

Coral Reef Ecosystem Banana Plantation

Temperate Rain Forest Desert

Amazon Forest

D. Analysis/ Discussions
1. How do you find the activity?
2. What is biodiversity?

E. Abstraction
1. What is high biodiversity and Low biodiversity?
2. How do you differentiate high biodiversity from low biodiversity?
( Discuss about high biodiversity and low biodiversity. Use power point
presentation. Elaborate the discussion using mother tongue to deepen
understanding and even non- verbal languages)
F. Application:
Directions: Find and encircle 10 words whether vertically, horizontally and diagonally
that relate to the advantages of High biodiversity over low biodiversity.

Guide Questions:
1. Why is high biodiversity advantageous over low biodiversity?
2. What will happen to ecosystems with low biodiversity?
( What other subjects where taking care of our mother nature is being
discussed. In your Aral. Pan. And ESP , you also discussed the importance of
our environment for sustainability)

IV. Evaluation:

Group Acivity: ( Always Observe Health Protocol)

1. Create a poster that focus on the importance of conserving ecosystem with

high biodiversity. Color your drawings.

Annotation:

The activity in the lesson are students- centered hence, the teacher freely gives the
students the opportunity to develop their imagination and creativity through drawings on how to
give importance of conserving ecosystem with high biodiversity.
