Digital Citizenship

o Digital citizenship refers to the responsible and ethical use of technology


and the internet.

o It encompasses a range of skills, knowledge, and behaviors that


individuals should demonstrate when engaging in digital environments.

o Digital citizenship is important in a world where technology plays a


significant role in our daily lives, from communication and education to
work and entertainment.
Key Aspects: Online Ethics

o Adhering to a set of principles and values when interacting with others


online. This involves:

o Respecting Others' Privacy: understanding the boundaries of personal


information. Digital citizens should be aware of what information is
appropriate to share and what should be kept private.
o Examples: Avoiding sharing personal addresses, phone numbers, or
financial information in public forums. Seeking permission before
tagging others in posts or sharing their images.

o Avoiding Harmful Behavior:
o Refrain from engaging in any form of online behavior that may cause harm,
distress, or discomfort to others. Such as cyberbullying, trolling, or any
malicious activities.

o Digital citizens should be mindful of the feelings and perspectives of others,

and understanding in digital communities.

potential impact of what is shared, commented on, or posted is crucial
in maintaining a positive online presence.
o Examples: Thinking before posting content that might be offensive,
being aware of the potential consequences of sharing personal
information, and considering how online behavior may affect
personal and professional relationships.
