II. SESSION OUTLINE
Session Influence of Culture on the Person’s Attitudes toward Sexuality
Title:
Session At the end of the session, the learners should be able to:

their influence on personal attitude towards sexuality.
 Express one’s sexuality morally and ethically despite cultural
upbringing .
 Convey personal thoughts on the influence of cultural upbringing
on one’s attitude towards sexually by accomplishing various tasks.

 Impact of one’s physiological development in addressing religion,


cultural, social, and political aspects that influence one’s attitudes

Up The students are presented with various scenarios. For


each scenario, the students will determine the most
generally accepted response.
a. Your father’s old friend coming from their small town
in the province paid your family a visit.
b. A pandemic greatly affected your country and many
people in your neighborhood lost their jobs.
c. It’s almost time for dinner but your father is still on
his way home from work.
d. Your neighbor gave you a plate full of food because
they are having a celebration.
e. It’s Sunday and your entire family attended the
afternoon mass with a sermon about God creating
male and female.

Processing Questions:

1. What do you notice about all the given scenarios?


What do they give emphasis on?
2. What set of cultures and beliefs did you grow up
with?
3. How does your set of cultures and beliefs influence
your attitude towards sexuality?

Concept 15 mins. Gender Roles


Do you believe that you are supposed to act certain ways
Exploration and do certain things because you are a man or a woman?

Prior Task: The learners should be asked to bring one


magazine each.

Instruction:
Break the students into three groups. Ask them to look for
different gender stereotypes in the magazines. One group
will focus on male stereotypes, the other on female
stereotypes, and the other on LGBTQA+ stereotypes. Each
group will cut out examples of male, female, and LGBTQA+
stereotypes. At least two representatives per group will
discuss why they chose such examples.

Realization:
As man/ woman, how are you being treated by your own
family? How do you feel about the way they treat you?

about how they think culture has generally influenced
sexuality.

Journal 15 mins. My Personal Thoughts


Writing  Reflect on the following data then answer the
questions that follows.
a. Women perform 66% of the world’s work, produce
50% of the food, but earn 10% of the income and
own 1% of the property. (UNIFEM)
b. Women are a driving force behind Africa’s
economy running an estimated 48% of small and
medium- sized businesses and growing, 80% of
the food. (ONE INternational)
c. Women invest 90% of their earnings into the
health, education and well-being of their families,
compared with 30-40% for men. (ONE
INternational)
d. There is a direct link between increased female
labor participation and growth: It is estimated
that if women’s paid employment rates were
raised to the same level as men’s, America’s GDP
would be 9% higher; the eurozone would be 13%
higher.
