WELLS FARGO JA PERSONAL FINANCE COMPETITION

FINMAC (Financial Management Competition): Unlocking the Key to Financial Success

JA Personal Finance is a joint venture between JA Philippines and Wells Fargo India &
Philippines which targets Filipino Grade 11 students in Senior High School under the ABM
and STEM strands to teach them about financial literacy, in compliance with the Philippine
Department of Education curriculum requirements. JA Personal Finance is a program for
students to experience the interrelationship between today’s financial decisions and future
financial freedom.

Topic: Financial Literacy

Main Concept:
This competition aims to test the knowledge of the students about financial concepts
specifically in saving and bank accounts prior to taking the JA Personal Finance program.

The Task:
The students are tasked to create and propose a personalized savings account wherein its
target market are Senior High School students.

The Proposal should include the following:


● Product Name for the Savings Account
● Account Description
● Account Inclusions/Benefits
● Eligibility & How to Open an Account

Competition Phases
1. Pre-Competition Proper

Brief the participants about:
○ Competition
Objective
○ Competition
Mechanics
○ Competition Timeline

Teach the students about:


○ The importance of
saving
○ The magic of
compounding interest
○ How to create a
proposal paper
● Mentoring Sessions
○ Follow up the students' progress regarding their progress with the
proposals.
○ Receive feedback regarding the paper and pitches.
○ Polish their proposals.

Applying what they've learned within the duration of the program, the students must
create a visual board 10 years from now integrating a summary of the 4 activities.

Sessions 1-4 Activity Guidelines: LINK

The Vision should include the following:


● Goals and objectives 10 years from now
● Detailed computation of their financial plan every 2 years until they reach year 10
● Final visual board aligned with timeline and financial plan
● Summary explanation of their visual board that will reflect the overall plans they
created
