LESSON 5: PARTS OF ELECTRIC CIRCUIT

Every electric circuit, regardless of where it is or how large or small it is, has four basic parts: First you need an
energy source, such as a battery. The energy source gives the force that makes the electrons move. You also need a
conductor, such as wire. The conductors will make the path through which the electrons will move. You also need a
load, such as light bulb or fan, that will use the electricity. Finally, you need a controller switch which opens and
closes the circuit.

Label the parts of an electric circuit.

b. Wire d. incomplete circuit
6. It consists of a dry cell, bulb and wire.
a. Electric circuit c. short circuit
b. Electric current d. open circuit
7. Which controls the flow of electric current in a circuit?
a. Dry cell c. wire
b. Switch d. appliance
8. Materials through which electricity pass easily are called_______.
a. Insulators c. non-conductors
b. Conductors d. metallic
9. Which gives power to the electrons to flow?
a. Dry cell/battery c. switch
b. Wire d. device
10. Why are insulators used to cover conductors?
a. To direct the flow of electron in a circuit
b. To have a rapid flow of electric current
c. To prevent electric current from changing its path
d. To prevent heating of wire

WEEK 6 PERFORMANCE TASK NO. 6
MAY 3-7, 2021

Lesson 6 DRAWING CIRCUITS

Electronics can be difficult but knowing about circuits will help you! Circuits are all around us. They can
be as simple as a battery connected to a lightbulb, and as complex as those found within computers.
Circuits are like highways for electrons, which are particles that make up electricity. Electrons will always
travel between positive and negative terminals of a power source, like a battery. If the electrons do not
flow, then power will not flow, and anything connected to the circuit will not turn on.
In this module you will learn to draw simple circuit diagram using common electrical symbols.

What’s More

Draw the symbol for each given component. (5 POINTS)

COMPONENT SYMBOL

1.load
2.wire

3.switch(on)

4.source
5.switch(off)

Assessment
Draw a simple circuit diagram using common electrical symbols inside the box. (10 POINTS)
