Conditions Which Generate This Code:

The engine is running and one of the following conditions has occurred:

z The control module for the Electronic Ignition System (EIS) has detected engine rpm during a
normal powerup sequence.

z There is a noisy component in a secondary circuit of the ignition system.

System Response:

The shutdown output is activated. The code may be viewed on the Digital Diagnostic Tool (DDT) or on
the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET).

The engine is shut down.

Test Step 1. Perform the following diagnostic procedure: Electrical Power Supply

Results:

z OK - STOP

z Not OK -

Repair: Perform the following diagnostic procedure: Troubleshooting, "Ignition Transformers

Secondary Circuit and Spark Plugs".

STOP
