CBT IPT A - SESSION GUIDE

Standard crew : captain is trainee 1 and first officer is trainee 2 throughout


the course .
Non standard crew : instructor determines Trainee 1 and Trainee 2 for first

The instructor will explain the electrical panel and the associated sytem display
page.
General discussion and performs the following subject

1 : DC Generation when powered by BAT or TR’s


Perform BAT check and charging.

2 : AC Generation when powered by External power, APU or Engine


driven generator.
Includes EMERGEN generation, in this event A/C set by instructor

3 : Aircraft powered by Ground power


Perform normal operation, how to use external power
Aircraft powered by Engine driven generator and or APU GEN
Perform normal operations and discuss all of the electrical
System either in flight or on ground.
Includes BUS TIE, ACC ESS FEED & IDG push button
operation.

1 : The instructor will show the BLEED panel on the overhead panel and the associated
system display page, and explain to the trainee the function of the controls and indicators.

Explain the flow of BLEED SYSTEM from the engine and the APU refer to the system
display and maintenance PDP.

With open book, the trainee will use the IPT as freeplay to get familiarize with the
controls and indicators.

2 : The instructor will show the AIRCOND panel on the overhead panel and the associated
system display page, and explain to the trainee the function of the controls and indicators.

With open book, the trainee will use the IPT as freeplay to get familiarize with the
controls and indicators.

3 : The instructor will show the PRESSURIZATION panel on the overhead panel and the
associated system display page, and explain to the trainee the function of the controls
and indicators.

Explain the operation of the PRESSURIZATION system works in auto and manual mode.

With open book, the trainee will practice how to operate the PRESSURIZATION system

and the associated system display, and explain to the trainee the function of the controls
and indicators.

Explain the sequence of starting engine and display the maintenance PDP of ENGINE
SYSTEM.

Show and explain the Hydraulic controls panel and associated P/Bs.

CBT IPT E - SESSION GUIDE

INSTRUCTOR ONLY
Standard crew : captain is trainee 1 and first officer is trainee 2 throughout the course .
Non standard crew : instructor determines Trainee 1 and Trainee 2 for first session, and maintains
it throughout the course.

IPT prepare and set by instructor.


The instructor will explain the flight control and EIS refer to the associated system display page.
General discussion and performs the following subject

1 : Basic principle of fly-by-wire flight system and,


Perform a free play cockpit control system with the associated page on
ECAM SD and indicators, either inflight or on ground.

2,3 : Instructor shows and explain Flight control computer and architecture
with associated ECAM SD and indicators.

4 : Normal law protection:


− Picth control
− Lateral control
− Manuver load alleviation
Perform a free play cockpit control with the associated ECAM SD and
indicators, subject to be discuss related with flight envelope and
normal law protection.

5,6 : Reconfiguration control law


− Alternate law (ALT 1 or ALT 2)

2. PDP BEFORE START

- BEFORE START CHK LIST down to the line - should be read, after all before start
down to the line tasks, including crew briefing has been completed.
- BELOW THE LINE should be read, after PUSHBACK / START CLEARANCE
obtained.

- CAUTION!! Do not perform pushback if NW STRG DISC not displayed.

PDP ENGINE START


- Flow Pattern started once the start selector moved to NORMAL

- Announce “START ENGINE 1 OR 2” before MASTER SW to ON.


- Idle Parameters EPR about =1.05 %. EGT about= 380 C, N1 = 22.6 % ,
N2 = 47 %, FF = 820 Kg, N3 = 63 %.

PDP AFTER START

INSTRUCTOR ONLY
- Turn off APU Bleed just after engine start to avoid ingesting exhaust gases.
- Engine ANTI-ICE ON when OAT or TAT < 10 C or Visible Moisture / Flap Delay
- Flow pattern after start
- Do not read AFTER START CHK LIST before NS STRG DISC on ECAM MEMO and
NWS TOWING Fault light extinguished.

3 PDP TAXI / BEFORE TAKE OFF


- Brake check (when parking brake release from Alternate to Normal) and Pedal press
after slight movement of aircraft.
- Flt Control Check Announcement according to SOP, “FULL UP, FULL DOWN -NEUTRAL,
FULL LEFT, FULL RIGHT - NEUTRAL”.
- BEFORE TAKE OFF flow pattern.
- BEFORE TAKE OFF CHK-LIST should be read after Flt. Control Check and Flt. Instr.
Check no flag.
- BELOW THE LINE should be read after take off clearance/ line up obtain.

4 PDP AFTER LANDING


- GRND spoiler DISARM signal for PNF action. (Follow after Landing Flow Pattern)
- If one brake temperature > 300 C (or > 150 C with brake fans ON) release Parking
Brakes after chocks are in place.
- Read SECURING THE AIRCRAFT Check list.

- High speed stability : nose up demand which can be overridden by the pilot.
- Low speed stability : nose down demand which can be overridden by the pilot.
- Stall recovery : in clean configuration (consider no risk of ground contact).
- Stall recovery : in clean and in landing configuration.

6 : STALL EXERCISE AND RECOVERY

Insert ADR 2 + 3 fault. Point out that, after ECAM actions.


Copy of the remaining PFD1 and ND1 can be obtained through DMC switching.
Demonstrate:
- Loss of most protections
- VMO pitch up (auto trim stops, possibility to override)
- Low speed stability (auto trim stops close to VLS, VSW)
For both trainees:
- Stall recovery technique (clean and landing configuration)

Reduce pitch attitude down to approx. 5 to 10 ANU allowing speed to increase.
Note: the strong pitch up moment at Thrust increase due to pitch in direct law.
If danger of ground contact exists, reduce pitch attitude no more than necessary to allow airspeed
to increase. After initial recovery, maintain speed close to VSW until it is safe to accelerate.
Speeds at VLS, speed trend positive, retract flaps one step.
Out of stall when there is no threat of ground contact and positive climb indication, select gear up,

continue normal V2/VAPP climb. (Max. pitch attitude 15 ANU normal or 12.5 ANU one engine out).
At an acceleration height or safe altitude, climb, clean up and return to target altitude.

Note:
Care must be exercised not to re-enter the stall regime and set off another warning.
Immediate corrective action taken, very little height lost.
Incase of engine inoperative, use power and rudder with care.

Fly the aircraft. Use continuous rudder input to center the BETA TARGET.

1 : Trainee 2 incapacitation: At 100ft the trainee 2 sets an unusual high pitch attitude
and holds the stick control
Emphasize the latching condition on Trainee 1 side (more than 40 sec.).
Back to normal crew position when aircraft in clean configuration

8 : At 900 ft QNH, insert a PITOT BLOCKED on F/O side + ADR 3 FAULT, then, at 1800
ft QNH, insert an AIRSPEED CHANNEL ADR 1 FAULT
Crew will apply MEMORY ITEMS as per QRH. As stated by QRH, when aircraft and
trajectory are stabilized, try to determine which ADRs are faulty : ECAM ACTIONS
may be performed at this stage as it will help analyzing the situation in order to
switch off the faulty ADRs.
Stand by instruments are still available
The goal is to fly the initial, the intermediate and the final approach with the pitch and
thrust targets.
This exercise should be treated as a demonstration. Adjust the pitch to fly the
required path then adjust thrust target.

INIT TAKE OFF RA 2 FAULT: Use of MMEL

15 : Insert RA1 fault during downwind.

19 : TCAS any RA scenario.

21 : Insert AC BUS 1 + 2 Fault (in case of non standard crew, repeat exercise)

24 : No rotation from PF.

4,43 Discuss changes due to aircraft dimensions and turning techniques

5 After L/G retraction, fly a pitch of 6° ; speed increase. At VFE + 2,5 kt, observe FLAP LOAD
RELIEF and RELIEF displayed on upper ECAM.
Continue to accelerate in order to exceed VFE ; observe no further retraction and over speed warning.
Increase pitch to 15° and point out FLAP re extension at VFE - 2,5 kt. Follow now SRS and above S,
select FLAP 1. Delay retraction to 0 in order to observe flap auto retraction at 200 kt.

6 After FCU setting, when modifying CRZ FL on PROG page, point out FMA update from ALT blue
to ALT CRZ blue.

7 At FL 255, explain AFT fuel transfer and CG control logic. Then after, during descent through
FL 245 or when FMGS time to DEST < 35 min, point out FWD fuel transfer

8 When above FL 210, set CG 50% AFT - Wait during one minute for warning.

9,12 Discuss EFIS DMC and ECAM DMC reconfiguration.

10 Fail ADR 3 then ADR 2. Explain that a copy of left PFD and ND can be obtained
using DMC switching. Point out loss of right EFIS controls.

11 Point out : - rate of descent


- pitch change after speed brakes extension or retraction

13 Insert an imbalance > 3 tons to trigger the advisory. Analyse then, restore

15 The aim, during the AUTOLAND, is to demonstrate the new height of the flare.
Trainees should mainly focues on it.

LINE ORIENTED FLIGHT TRAINING

The Airbus Line Oriented Flight Training (ALOFT) session is intended to provide crews with
opportunities to enhance their understanding of the A330 and to apply Crew Resource Management

INSTRUCTOR ONLY
principles to simulated regular airline flight.
Scenarios are intended to produce a busy environment, but should never overload the crew.
In many cases, there is no single 'right' answer but, using their skills and knowledge, the crew should
be able to reach a successful conclusion to each scenario. Alternative solutions may provide useful,
constructive post-flight discussion.
Relative simple failures are introduced during the flight to enable the session objectives to be met.

To make ALOFT as valuable and realistic as possible, flight documentation (files available on the
“INST FLIGHT SUPPORT” on the server) is provided by the instructor at briefing. The flight briefing
will begin 1 hour before the scheduled simulator start time and will take 15-20 minutes. Thereafter
the crew will have some time to study the documentation and, for example, decide on the required
fuel load, etc.
The take-off time for the flight is considered to be 30 minutes after the simulator session starts.

ALOFT scenario routing are :

- Trainee 1 : Sydney / Melbourne (YSSY / YMML)
- Trainee 2 : Melbourne / Sydney (YMML / YSSY)

Instructor should give additional Stall and Steep turn exercise prior SIM evaluation.
