A. Review
Yesterday, we have studied about nouns. Who Nouns are name of a person, place, things,
can tell the class what are nouns? animals or events.
Give an example of a noun and use it in a
sentence.

B. Motivation

“The Farmer”
Mang Efren is a farmer. He has six children,
namely: Maria, Marta, Pedro, Juan,
Ben, and Kiko to feed. That’s why he needs to
work hard to earn
money.

He gets up before sunrise while the air is still


fresh and cool to
work on the field. He leaves the house to go to
his farm by
walking. As soon as he arrives in his farm, he
actively works by
plowing, applying needed fertilizers, and
pruning.
Around 9:00 in the morning, he takes a break,
changes his
wet clothes, and takes his breakfast. At 9:30, he
returns to finish his
work. In the afternoon during the hottest hours
of the day, Mang
Efren takes a rest at the shaded part of the farm.
Every late afternoon, he checks and monitors
the growth of
his plants. While in the evening, he spends his
time with his family.
After a week of hard work, Mang Efren spends
his Sunday with his
family, and they go to church together.

Answer the following questions:

They are nouns. But some of them are written Some are written by starting with a small and
starting in small letter and some starting in big letter. big letter.
The nouns starting in small letter are called Common
nouns while the nouns starting in big letter are called
Proper nouns.

Common noun names a kind or type of persons,


places, things, or ideas. It is usually not capitalized (The children will give examples of common
unless it begins a sentence or is part of a title. nouns and proper nouns. They are going to
use them in a sentence.)
Examples of these are: teacher, school, dog, pencil,
holiday

Proper noun names a particular person, place, thing,


or idea and begins with a capital letter.
Examples of these are: Mr. De Vera, Dumpay ES,
Brownie, Monggol, Rizal Day.

D. Activity
Now we are going to have a group activity. I will
divide you into three groups. Each group will
assigned a corresponding activity. But before we
proceed, here are the rules in doing a group
activity.

1. Be cooperative.
2. Avoid noise while doing the activity.
3. Follow the time limit given.

Group 1 – Match Common Noun to its Proper Noun


Group 2 – Encircle the common noun in each sentence
Group 3 – Underlined the proper noun in each sentence

I will give you 5 minutes to finish the task and later we


will check your work. There should be a representative
in presenting your work in the class.
(The groups will perform the activity. One
representative will explain their work.)
