Okay, Maxine? (Answers may vary)

Authentic, I hope everyone spends time reading a

book because it will improve your reading
comprehension and also your critical thinking
skills.

Thank you guys for your cooperation, now give

yourself a round of applause.

3. Preview

Just like the picture I’ve shown to you, we will

read a story entitled “Nana the Cow”.

Are you guys ready? Yes

4. Motive Question

After hearing the title of the story, do you have

any questions about it? Anyone?

Okay, Jenica? Who is Nana?

Nice question Jenica, later on, we will answer that

question.

Another question?

If none, let’s start reading.

5. Standards on silent reading.

 Sit erect.
 Put the book on the desk or table and hold it
with both hands.
 Read with your eyes, not with your lips.
 Understand what you are reading.
6. Reading the story

You only have 4 minutes to finish the story.

7. Analysis

7.1 Answering the motive questions

How’s the story? Did you guys enjoy it? Yes

Okay very good! Now let’s proceed answering

Jenica’s question earlier.

Again what is Jenica’s question?

Who is Nana? Nana is a cow.

Excellent grade 4! Now put your hands together

and clap 3 times.

7.2 Answering the follow-up question

What is the story all about? It is about Nana who likes to visit new places.

Where did Nana go? She goes to the field with lots of flowers.

What happened to Nana after visiting the field? She falls asleep until it’s dark that’s why she
can’t find her way home.

Who helps Nana? Doddy the dog helps Nana to go back to the
farm.
Very good! With that give yourself a boom boom (The students perform the boom boom shake
shake shake clap. shake clap)

What have you learned from the story? (Answers may vary)
Don’t go somewhere that you are not familiar
with.

What else? Always go home on time especially if you are

alone.

Very good! All your answers are correct. I hope

that you will apply it in your own lives.

Thank you guys for cooperating! Now let’s

proceed to our lesson today.
Are you guys ready? Yes

If that is so, sit properly and put your hands on

your desk and listen carefully.

7.3 Presenting the topic

Now, may ask two students to rise and hold their

copy of the story.

Anyone? Don’t be afraid guys. (Raquel and Aicyn stands)

Okay, Raquel and Aicyn!

Let’s give a hand to them.

Now, what I want you guys to do is choose 1

sentence from the story “Nana the Cow” and
kindly write it on the board in a cursive manner.

Raquel writes “She likes flowers so much.”

Aicyn writes “She smelt the flowers, listened to

the birds singing and ate some green grass.”
.
Excellent! Now give Raquel and Aicyn a 5 claps!

Everybody, please read statement number 1 (She likes flowers so much)

written by Raquel.

And now please the statement number 2 written

by Aicyn.

These sentences are also called statements

wherein statement has two type; General and
Specific.

Now, can you guess the sentences that are

written on the board? Tell me which is the
example of general or specific statements?

Anyone?

Leana? I think sentence number 1, She like flowers so

much is a general statement.

Why do you say so? Because the sentence didn’t indicate what type
of flowers she likes.
Okay, let’s figure it out later.

How about statement number 2, is it a general or

specific statement?

Anyone?

Jamelyn? I think the statement number 2, She smelt the

flowers, listened to the birds singing, and ate
some green grass is a specific statement.

Why do you say so? Because the things that she is doing are
specified.
Okay, thank you for your answer, later on, we will
figure it out if your answers are correct.

Now let’s discuss what is general and specific

statements.
General statement - it is a sentence that defines
or declares some large and broad information. It
does not describe one particular event. It is
usually expressed as the general idea of a piece
of writing.

Again what is a general statement? A sentence that defines or declares some large
and broad information.
Specific Statement - refers to the exact and
precise description. It provides evidence to further
define the general idea or general statement.

Again what is a specific statement? It refers to the exact and precise description.

Now let’s study the example below:

A. The doctors are heroes of pandemic.

B. Dr. Salvador from Bataan Hospital treats
Covid-19 patient.

Let’s go back to the statements from the story that

you have written on the board.

Do you think that your classmate’s answers are Yes

correct? Based on your understanding of our
discussion.

Why do you say so?

Kristine? Because statement number one declares broad

information while statement number 2 covers an
exact and precise description.

Do you guys agree with Kristine? Yes

Excellent! Now everyone deserves a boom boom

shake shake clap.
