Crochet pattern “Plants” (16 cm)

This pattern does not include crochet and knitting


tutorials and requires basic skills.
Materials & supplies:

1. Yarn:
- main yarn: YarnArt Jeans (50g/160m). For crocheting
the onion, I used Russian Pekhorka yarn. You can look at
the analogs of this yarn at the very bottom of the page
of my store in the FAQ section.
- for leaves and apical shoots: Drops Alpaca (50g/167m)

2. Hook: 1,15 mm (you can use hook of any size which


is comfortable for you)
3. 2 black beads for eyes: 4-5mm
4. White thread of any thickness for eyes
5. Buttons: 6-7mm.
6. Fiber filling. You can use glass granulate to make toy
heavier.
7. Big tapestry needle for sewing details together
8. Pins
9. Scissors
10. Stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round
(I use black thread)
11. Pastel crayons for toning the toy
Abbreviations:

Crochet:
Ch – chain
Sl st – slip stitch
Sc – single crochet
Hdc - half double crochet
Dc - double crochet
Tr - treble crochet
Inc – increase (2sc in one st)
Dec – decrease (2 st together)

Needles :
Edge st – edge stitch
K – knit stitch

PLANT

Legs, body:

First leg:

1 R – 6sc in magic ring


Place the marker at the beginning of the row.
2 R – (1sc, inc)×3 (9)
3-4 R – 9sc (2 Rs)
5 R – 2sc, 2dec, 3sc (7)
6 R – 1sc, 2dec, 2sc (5)
7 R – 1sc, inc, 3sc (6)
8 R – 1sc, 4inc, 1sc (10)
9 R – 2sc (don't finish the row)

Fasten off. Cut the yarn.

Second leg, body:


Repeat rows 1-8 of right leg.
9 R – 8sc (don't finish the row)
Don`t fasten off.

Attention: Everybody has different crochet tension and


if you see that the row ends are not symmetrical on both
legs (inner side), just crochet 1 sc more or 1 sc less if
needed.

Continue: chain 6 and join the first leg with slip stitch.
Legs should turn out in such a way that their socks are
directed towards you.

Place the marker to mark the beginning of the row.

10 R – 10 sc around the first leg, 6 sc (1 st in each st of


the chain), 10 sc around the second leg, 6sc (1 st in each

Start stuffing the legs.

Start to make decreases on the sides of the toy. Crochet


5-7sc to move the beginning of the row, so decreases
would be evenly on the sides of the toy. Place the marker
to mark the beginning of the row. Stuff it as you go.

Make embroidery on the leaves as shown in the photo:


Fold two leaves together and sew them to the hole in the
head:
Arms:

1 R – 6sc in magic ring


2-16 R – 6sc (15Rs)

Stuff arms with fiber approximately to rows 8 only.


Fold edges together and sc with 3 sc.

Fasten off. Cut the yarn leaving a long tail for assembly.
Make 2 details.
Assembling:

1. Sew the head and body together (approximately on


39h row). Sew arms on the sides of the body.

2. Make the toning of the face and belly with white


pastel crayons:
3. Make the toning of the leaves with white pastel
crayons:

4. Sew eyes to the head at the level of rows 10-12.


Embroider eyes shadows with white thread as shown on
photo below:
5. Embroider the mouth with an arc at rows 9-10.

6. If necessary, tint around the eyes with brown pastel


and put a blush.

7. The finished plant looks like this:


ONION
Legs, body:

Use light brown yarn.


Make 1-5 rows in the same way as in the plant pattern.
Change yarn to dark brown color.
Make 6-14 rows in the same way as in the plant pattern.
In the 15th row, change yarn to green color: сrochet 5-
7sc and replace the yarn with green so that the color
change is less noticeable (on the side).
Make 15-40 rows in the same way as in the plant
pattern.
Head:

Use light brown yarn.


Make 1-26 rows in the same way as in the plant pattern.

Fasten off. Leave long tail for assembly.


The hole does not need to be closed, we will insert and
sew apical shoots into it.
Apical shoots:

1 R – 4sc in magic ring


Place the marker to mark the beginning of the row.

Fasten off.
Similarly, make two more details, up to 14 row long and
up to 10 row long. Sew three details together:
Sew details into the hole on the head:

Arms:

Use light brown yarn.


Make 1-4 rows in the same way as in the plant pattern.
Change yarn to green color.
Make 5-16 rows in the same way as in the plant pattern.
Blush:

Use pink yarn.


1 R – 6sc in magic ring

Pull the working thread through the last loop of the


previous row to close the row into a circle. Cut the yarn
leaving a long tail for assembly.
Make 2 details.

Assembling:
1. Make the assembly in the same way as in the
pattern of the plant (except for tinting with white
pastel).

2. Sew on 3 buttons in the center of the belly and


make straps from 55-60 ch, as shown in the photo
below:
3. Sew the blush at rows 9-11.

4. Embroider the nose at the level of 11-12 rows, as


shown in the photo:
5. With pastel crayons of brown and dark brown color,
apply stripes in a circle from the crown of the head
to its base (on the face - just above the eyes).
SCARF:

Cast on 70 st.
1 R – 70k
2 R – 70p
3 R – 70k

Cast off. Cut the yarn and hide the tail.
