CAT 3 – The Game of Business


Did you know that more than 60 per cent of small businesses in Australia close within their first
three years? One of the crucial mistakes these businesses make is that they fail to plan, which
means they plan to fail. However, FAIL is first attempt in trying. Some of the most successful people
failed, learnt from their mistakes and overcame challenges to succeed!

Task:
In groups of 4, you will create a business plan for a product of your choice within a given industry. However,
to make things interesting, each group will have “wild cards”, which will alter how decisions are made!

Conditions:
You will have five periods of class time to work on this CAT paper as a team.

Submission:
Each group will work on the one document and submit one CAT paper as a group, which will include an
individual reflection for each group member.

DUE DATE:
 Part 3 due - Week 6 Tuesday 10th of November 2020

PART 1 – Business idea
Step 1: Business Partnership
Businesses are formed by individuals and by groups of people. For this task, you will form a legal business
partnership. A partnership is business legal structure with 2-20 owners. This means that all of you are
equally responsible for the success of this business.

All group members must contribute equally to this CAT. However, to ensure that each group member is
accountable and each person will manage and be responsible for certain area.
