9. MAJOR CHALLENGES:
The major challenges of Katina-Ala Central Council are:
(a) Lack of Funds: Prolonged non-payment of salaries in the state has caused a serious setback for the progress
of the work of SSVP in the Central Council.
(b) Insecurity. The incessant attacks by the herdsmen and nefarious activities of the armed youths coupled with
assassinations and kidnappings in the area posed a major threat to the inhabitants. These social vices have
caused many inhabitants of the area to flee or relocate to other destinations thereby reducing the income and
increasing the expenses and burden due to influx of the destitute.

10.1 Aggregation Certificates:

The Council is yet to receive applications from the various conferences for aggregation.

10.2 Twinning:

Neither the Council nor any of her conferences have been twinned. As a result, the council is operating on its
internal twinning arrangement aimed at cross fertilization of ideas, financial assistance and mutual
understanding in gathering and sharing of resources.

But it is hoped that in the nearest future, conferences will fully understand the modalities and benefits and take
advantage of it.

11. WAYS OF COOPERATION:

There is every need for cooperation between the Conferences and the Council so as to achieve the common goal
of the society. These, we have achieved through rotational meetings of the Council between the Conferences.
We also encouraged our members especially Conference officials to be attending Laity Council Meetings and
other Diocesan functions.

12. WAYS HIGHER COUNCILS CAN ASSIST LOWER COUNCILS:

While the lower Councils performs their financial obligations to higher Council, higher Council should in turn
give moral support to the lower Councils advising them in the face of challenges and open up constant channel
of communications for smooth flow of information. Higher Councils should also as much as possible consult
the lower Councils when matter such as levies are planned to be introduced.
2023 Annual Report of Katsina-ala Central Council (January - December) |6
There is also the need for the higher Council to conduct trainings for the lower Council especially on the
effective annual report writing so as to ensure a uniform understanding of the income and expenditure heads as
well as the statistical part of the report.
