The Relationship of Learner’s Anxiety and their Trouble Concentrating when

Attacked by Anxiety

This quantitative and descriptive study is aimed to determine the relationship of

learner’s anxiety and lack of attention. The study employed the quantitative and
descriptive method of research using constructed online questionnaire as a main data
collection tool. The subject of the study are 45 high school students which will be
consisted of 24 males and 21 females. The instrument which will be used is a survey
questionnaire which provides variables such as age, sex, section, and the average of
students who have anxiety.

Research Design
The study employed the quantitative and descriptive method of research using
constructed online questionnaire as a main data collection tool. This method is
characterized by carefully planned and structured research design. It will be used when
the purpose of the research is to compare, analyze, and describe the data of certain
topics chosen for the study (Berger, 1998). It enabled the researcher to use data on
frequency of a phenomenon to investigate the relationship between learner’s stress and
anxiety that causes lack of attention.
Participants of the study
The participants of the study are the 45 High School learners which is composed of 24
males and 21 females. A stratified random sampling procedure was used for selecting
the participants in the study. This technique was employed to ensure a fairly equal
representation of the variables for the study.

Research Instrument
The instrument which will be used was a survey questionnaire to gather data that will be
used in the study. I chose this instrument since it is effective on the study and it offers a
fast, and efficient means of gathering information. The questionnaire has direction and a
yes or no question which will be used to determine whether the cause of their lack of
attention is either anxiety or other circumstances of external distractions. Some
questions that will be rated in 5-point Likert scale are also included. For computation
purposes, each response is given an equivalent point as follows:
Responses Scale
Always - 5
Frequently - 4
Sometimes - 3
Seldom - 2
Not at all - 1
