an influential and crucial part in conveying the message of the story or film. It
adds depth and emotion to the overall impact of the film. In this reflection
paper we will dive into the significance regarding the integration of vocal
music in film.
Vocal music, with its ability to express emotions, becomes a critical tool in
shaping the overall understanding of the audience. Films such as “Emir” do
intrigue us, especially their use of tradition and culture to make the scene
more realistic.
Furthermore, vocal music becomes a vessel for linguistic barriers and cultural
expression. The use of indigenous vocal music and instruments add flavor and
depth to a certain musical scene. It enhances the understanding of the viewer
to another level.
Beyond cultural representation, vocal music plays a pivotal role in increasing
emotional resonance, thereby amplifying the impact of cultural storytelling. In
the Film Emir, the power of character-driven songs transcends mere

Our Leader’s insights: As someone deeply immersed in movie musicals and
theater, I find that the integration of traditional vocal music helps me
understand the significance of culture and tradition in the Philippines and
around the world. I learned how to appreciate the subtle and amazing
traditional music of our country. Realizing that music is a spokesperson that
brings people together and diminishes that linguistic barrier.
