Introduction

In today’s rapidly changing world, many students experiences various challenge that can
significantly impact their mental health and well-being . Stress and depression are most relevant issues
that affected many students and their academic pursuits. The purpose of this study is to gain deeper
understanding of the impact of stress and depression on the life education and overall well-being of the
students. Also lights on the personal narrative and live experience of students, providing valuable
insights into their struggles, coping mechanism, and the support they receive. By exploring this live
experience, this study aims to contribute to the ongoing discourse on mental health in educational
settings.

Statement of the Problem

As the researcher, my goal in this study is to know the challenges and live experiences of the
students who suffers stress and depression. This aims to respond to the following queries:
1. What are the coping mechanisms do students employ to manage their stress and depression?
2. What are the specific academic challenges and difficulties faced by students who suffers from stress
and depression?
3. What are the supporting systems and resources available to students who suffers from stress and
depression?
4. What are the impacts on the everyday life of the students who is suffering stress and depression?

Limitation and Delimitation of the Study

This study is limited to the students of Marciano Dahan High school who suffers stress and
depression. It only focuses on the life of senior high school and some of junior high school students
who’s experiencing stress and depression.
Significance of the Study

Stress and depression among students have become prevalent issues in today's educational landscape.
The mental health of students is crucial for their overall well-being and academic success. Understanding
the live experiences of students who suffer from stress and depression is essential to develop effective
interventions and support systems. This review aims to explore the existing literature on this topic,
highlighting the impact of stress and depression on students' lives.

Impact of Stress and Depression on Students

Stress and depression can significantly affect various aspects of students' lives, including their academic
performance, social relationships, and overall quality of life. Academic stressors, such as high workload,
tight deadlines, and performance pressure, can contribute to the development of depression and anxiety
among students (Hysenbegasi et al., 2005). These mental health issues can lead to decreased motivation,
concentration difficulties, and poor academic outcomes (Stallman, 2010).

Coping Mechanisms and Support Systems

Students employ various coping mechanisms to deal with stress and depression. Some common coping
strategies include seeking social support, engaging in physical activities, practicing mindfulness, and
utilizing professional counseling services. Research suggests that students who have access to adequate
support systems, such as supportive friends, family, and university resources, tend to have better mental
health outcomes (Zivin et al., 2013). Universities and educational institutions play a vital role in providing
mental health support services to students, including counseling centers and mental health awareness
programs (Eisenberg et al., 2009).

Sociocultural Factors and Mental Health

Sociocultural factors also influence the live experiences of students who suffer from stress and
depression. Students from marginalized or minority backgrounds may face additional stressors related to
discrimination, prejudice, and cultural adjustment, which can exacerbate their mental health issues
(Wong et al., 2013). It is crucial for educational institutions to consider the intersectionality of students'
identities and provide culturally sensitive support systems to address their unique needs.

Recommendations for Future Research

While the existing literature provides valuable insights into the live experiences of students who suffer
from stress and depression, there is still a need for further research in this area. Future studies could
focus on exploring the effectiveness of different interventions and support systems, evaluating the long-
term impact of stress and depression on students' lives, and investigating the role of technology in
promoting mental health among students.

Conclusion
Stress and depression significantly impact the lives of students, affecting their academic performance,
social relationships, and overall well-being. Understanding the live experiences of these students is
crucial for developing effective interventions and support systems. By acknowledging the impact of
stress and depression on students' lives, educational institutions can create a conducive environment
that promotes mental health and well-being.

Family and Academic Stress: Mirza et al.'s study suggests that students have a 9% higher rate of
experiencing depression than the general population. The stress and depression encountered by
students can greatly impact their ability to live a balanced life ^1^.
Risk Factors: A study identified six different themes of risk factors associated with students' stress,
anxiety, and depression: psychological, academic, biological, lifestyle, social, and financial. Different risk
factor groups can have varying degrees of impact on students' mental health .

Utilization of Mental Health Services: Despite a high prevalence of stress, anxiety, and depression among
students, more than 60% of students with moderate or severe symptoms had never utilized mental
health services on- or off-campus ^3^.

4. Academic Stress and Work Experience: Academic stress has a significant impact on depression in
college students, particularly during challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic. However, students
who have served as student cadres are less affected by academic stress, suggesting that work experience
can potentially buffer against the negative effects of academic stress.

of Life (QOL): There's a significant relationship between depression and QOL among students, and this
study aimed to estimate the prevalence of depression among high school and university students and
identify this relationship ^5^.
