• We use the present simple to talk about facts, habits, and routines.
Spelling rules:
• We add -s to most of the verbs. For example: Eat – eats / read – reads
• When the verb ends in CONSONANT + Y, we change the Y and add -IES. For example: Carry – carries
/ fly – flies
• When the verb ends in -SS, -SH, -CH, -X and -O, we add -ES. For example: finish – finishes / relax –
relaxes / go – goes
• Some verbs are irregular: have – has / be – is
Adverbs of frequency:
• We use adverbs of frequency to say how often we do something.
• They go after the verb be but before the main verb. For example: She is always happy.
• They go after the main verb but before the subject. For example: He never smiles.
