Let us pray. (Impromptu prayer) Amen!

2.) Motivation

a. Review of Past Lesson

What was our previous topic about? Student will answer

HABOL, JOHNRAY B. BTVTED ELEC. 3A QUIZ 4

b. What did you learned about our previous lesson?

3. Lecture Student will answer

Our lesson for today is about electric bell. It was

invented by Alexander Graham Bell, an American
scientist. He was born in Edinburg, Scotland on March
3rd, 1847. This device used electromagnet that was
invented by William Sturgeon in 1823.

There are many applications of electric bell such as

railroad crossings, in telephones, fire and burglar
alarms, as school bells, doorbells, and alarms in
industrial plants, since 1800s. Understood?

Okay class now let’s discuss the different parts of Yes Sir!
electric bell.

 Electromagnetic Coil
The electromagnetic coil is a coil of wire
wound around an iron core. When an electric
current flows through the coil, it creates a
magnetic field around the iron core. This
magnetic field is crucial for the functioning of
the electric bell.
 Armature
The armature is a piece of iron or steel that is
attracted to the electromagnetic coil when a
current flows through it. The armature is
typically attached to a hinged mechanism
that allows it to move back and forth.
 Spring
The spring is used to provide tension and
restore the armature to its original position
when the current is interrupted. It acts as a
mechanical return, ensuring that the
armature moves freely back and forth.
 Contact Points
Contact points are located at the ends of the
armature and make electrical contact with a
stationary contact when the armature is
attracted to the coil. This completes the
electrical circuit, allowing current to flow
through the coil.
 Stationary Contact
The stationary contact is a fixed point that
the armature contacts when it is attracted to
the coil. It is usually connected to one
terminal of the power source.
 Adjustable Screw
An adjustable screw is often included to allow
for fine-tuning of the distance between the
armature and the stationary contact. This
adjustment affects the sensitivity and
behavior of the electric bell.
 Gong or Bell
The gong or bell is the part that produces the
ringing sound when the armature strikes it.
 Power Source
The power source, typically a battery or direct
electrical connection, provides the electric
current necessary to energize the coil and

initiate the operation of the electric bell.
Understood?

Now for you to understand how electric bell works I

will present a video animation that explain/illustrate Student will answer
the working principle of it.

(Presenting video)…

Did you understand the video?

Okay class, please listen and watch carefully because,

Student will answer
after my demonstration on how to assemble the parts
and components of an electric bell, you will also
create a simple working electric bell.
Yes sir!
(Demonstration)…

Group Activity

Okay, class for your group activity: create a group with

five members and make a simple electric bell circuit. I
have here all the materials that you need.

After that each group will present their assembled

Student will group themselves
electric bell to the class, explaining the function of
each component.

Criteria:

Functionality 10 points

Presentation 5 points

Cleanliness 5 point

Individual Activity

For individual activity, draw a diagram of your group

electric bell. Draw your diagram on short bond paper.
(10 points)

ABSTRACTION

Okay, class, do you have any questions about how an

electric bell works? If not, I will be the one who will
ask a question.

Give one part or component of an electric bell and Student will answer
state its function.

ANALYSIS

Can anyone explain how an electric bell works and Answer may vary
state what the importance of an electromagnet is?

APPLICATION

V. EVALUATION
Direction: Write TRUE if the statement is correct and write FALSE if the statement is incorrect.
_______1. The electromagnet is the part of the electric bell that acts as a gong.
_______2. The primary function of an electric bell is to generate sound.
_______3. When the circuit of the electric bell is closed, the lights turn on.
_______4. The energy conversion that occurs in an electric bell is electrical to
mechanical.
_______5. The function of the bell hammer is to regulate the voltage.
_______6. The switch plays a role in controlling the electric bell by opening and closing
the circuit.
