PROJECT REQUIREMENTS | ZERO NET CARBON

Your Client *is going to open a new office in the given location and has the following
DESIGN REQUIREMENTS:
1. Designed to the highest standards of green building to achieve Zero Net Carbon
2. Lowest possible Water use and embodied energy of Materials
3. A high level of daylight and design for natural ventilation
4. An iconic aesthetic which brings green, affordable, and local design together

SPACE DESCRIPTION
The site size is 50m x 70m (3,500 sqm site). The office will include the following:
• Total internal floor area of 4,500sqm
• Open plan offices and meeting rooms

WHAT TO PRESENT?
Design and results in PowerPoint format, including:

• Conceptual design including typical floor plans, façade and building shape

• Steps that show the incremental progress to Zero Net Carbon using the EDGE App
to test and improve the design of the building (keep track of your changes in MS
Excel)

• Show your final selected passive and active design solutions to reach Zero Net
Carbon and a Water/Materials Efficient building

• Report the following quantities from the EDGE App:


• Total energy use
• Total water use
• Total incremental cost
• Payback period (years)
• Total CO2 saved (tCO2)
• Total embodied energy of materials saved
