Previous Knowledge The students have been taught noun

Introduction The teacher introduces the lesson by asking the students to define the
term Noun
Behaviour Objectives At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1) Define the term pronoun
2) List the different types of pronouns
3) Give explanation of each type of pronoun with examples
4) Use the examples in making sentences.
Presentation The teacher presents the lesson thus:

Step 1 The teacher defines pronoun as a word that takes the place of a noun in a
sentence without the direct naming of what it replaces in order to avoid
unnecessary repetition.
Step 2 The teacher goes further to list the types of pronouns we have:
1) Personal pronoun
2) Reflexive pronoun
3) Interrogative pronoun
4) Relative pronoun
5) Indefinite pronoun
6) Reciprocal pronoun
7) Demonstrative pronoun
Step 3 The teacher explains the meaning of each type of pronouns with
examples:
1) Personal pronoun: This describes the relationship between the
participant in a communication. Example, I/we, she/he/it/they,
you
2) Reflexive pronoun: This type of pronouns is related to the idea of
the pronoun referring back to the subject. Examples: myself-
ourselves (1st person), yourself-yourselves (2nd person),
him/her/itself-themselves (3rd person).
3) Interrogative Pronoun: Are used in asking questions. Examples-
who, whom, what, which.
4) Relative pronoun: it is used in introducing a subordinate clause.
Examples- who, whom, which and that.
5) Indefinite pronoun: This refers to non-specific person or things.
Example- everyone, nobody, somebody, anyone.
6) Reciprocal pronoun: indicates a mutual action or relationship
between two or more people. Example – each other, one another,
themselves.
7) Demonstrative pronoun: it is used in pointing out a thing or
things. Examples- this-that (singular), these-those (plural)
Step 4 The teacher makes sentences with some of examples stated above
1) He/she/we/I/they bought a car.
2) I myself cooked the food.
3) John himself wrote the letter.
4) Who bought the book?
5) What do you want?
6) The girl who came here yesterday is my sister.
7) The book which I bought yesterday bores me.
8) Everyone enjoyed the part.
9) Nobody knows the answer.
10) That book is good.
Evaluation The teacher evaluates the students by asking them the following
questions:
1) What is pronoun
2) List the types of pronouns we have
3) Describe at least four (4) types of pronouns you were taught.
4) Use three (3) examples of pronouns in making sentences.
Students Activity The students listen attentively to the teacher’s explanations. They also
contribute and ask questions where necessary.
The students do the class exercise and also copy their notes.
Summary The teacher summarizes the lesson by highlighting the main points of the
lesson, for instance: defining pronoun, listing the types of pronouns with
examples and showing them how to use them in making sentence.
Conclusion The teacher concludes the lesson by copying the note for the students on
the white board.
