SECTION I: INFORMATION
This recruit handbook will contain the necessary information a recruit needs to know during
their time in the Arborfield Police Training Academy. Should a recruit be found in violation of
any policy listed in the following sections, they shall be subject to discipline at discretion of the
Training Unit and High Command. Punishments may vary depending on the circumstances of
the violation. Field Instructors reserve the right to discipline and issue punishments against any
APD recruit. Forms of specific punishments can be found within this handbook.

SECTION III: METHODS OF PUNISHMENT
Verbal Warning
• The recruit is warned if found to have committed an offense. Usually a stern message
but is not an official warning. Issued by any Instructor +
Strike
• Recruits are issued a strike for their misconduct. May only receive one of these.
Another results in expulsion. Issued by any Instructor +
Expulsion
• Recruit is removed from the Academy. Issued by the Training Sergeant and High
Command.

SECTION V: ACADEMY HIERARCHY
The following rank structure is established.
I. RECRUIT
A recruit within the Arborfield Police Training Academy. Prohibited from going on team
or representing the department until fully trained, unless going on a supervised shift,
evaluation or during their Probationary Period.

SECTION VI: AUTHORITY AND POWER TO CHANGE
Only the Training Sergeant, the Training Corporal and APD High Command have the authority to
make changes to these policies independently, and other official documentation released by the
Arborfield Police Training Academy. Field Instructors are authorized to recommend changes to
the Training Corporal or Sergeant. If an official is not mentioned above, they do not have power
to make changes to this document or any official Academy documents.
I. Leave of absences lasting longer than two (2) weeks must be approved by the
Training Sergeant and High Command.
II. Prior to a resignation processed, the individual wishing to leave the Academy must
contact the Training Sergeant.
III. All terminations are to be approved by the Training Sergeant and High Command.

SECTION IX: CONCLUSION
This shall conclude the recruit handbook. The recruit handbook can be updated at any point,
and current enrolled recruits shall be notified of such changes.
SECTION X: AFFIRMATIONS
I. The contents of this document are hereafter affirmed by the Arborfield Police
Department.
