Answer the questions below.

1. What is rock? (5 points)

Answer:
A rock is a solid collection of mineral grains that grow or become cemented together. Some
rocks are large while others are small. Small rocks are called pebbles. Every rock is made up of
one or more minerals. Geologists (people who study rocks and minerals) classify rocks
according to the way they are formed.
2. How rock is formed? (5 points)
Answer:
Rocks are formed through the process of erosion, these fragments are removed from their
source and transported by wind, water, ice, or biological activity to a new location. Once the
sediment settles somewhere, and enough of it collects, the lowest layers become compacted so
tightly that they form solid rock.

3. What are the kinds of rocks and describe each. (15 points)
Answer:
The three kinds of rocks are igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. Igneous
rocks are formed from melted rock deep inside the Earth. Sedimentary rocks are formed
from layers of sand, silt, dead plants, and animal skeletons. Metamorphic rocks formed from
other rocks that are changed by heat and pressure underground.

because there is no rocks holds and make place more stronger against erosions, but the
question is what if it is only rocks build the earth. If it happens, our world will be more stronger
from calamity but living in rock places will not be easy because we need food to survive and
plants won’t grow properly in a place that more of rocks.

6. What is Mohorovicic discontinuity? (5 points).

Answer:
The Moho discontinuity is the boundary between the Earth’s crust and the mantle. It has
been named so because it was discovered by a Croatian scientist, Andreaja Mohorovicic.
This boundary marks a change in seismic-wave velocity from the crust to the uppermost
mantle within the (lithospheric) plate.
