BILL NO. 01 - PRELIMINARIES

ITEM DESCRIPTION QNTY UNIT RATE AMOUNT

1.1 Following are the preliminary items of work in


connection with this Contract and the bidder is
required to price each such individual item. If no
price has been stated against any item hereunder
the Contractor will not be entitled to claim any
money for such items even though he is obliged
to execute the work or provide services
described therein. Preliminary items priced by
the bidder are deemed to include the cost of
unpriced items. 1.00 Note

1.2 The bidder shall read, understand and acquaint


himself with the requirements in the Conditions
of Contract and Contract Data, General
Specification of Work, Particular Specification of
Work, Instruction to Bidders , Bidding Data and
Preamble Notes. It is the bidders responsibility to
see that his price include for complying with all
the above requirements whether specifically
referred to in this Bill of Quantities or otherwise.

1.3 The bidder is required to visit the site of the


proposed work, as it is his responsibility to
ascertain the conditions governing access to the
site, the external working space, storage area

1.4 Cost and expenses in connection with any other


preliminary items which are not listed below, but
are necessary for the due completion of works,
are deemed to be included in the rates or prices
quoted by the Contractor and accepted by the

Contractor's Facilities

including staff rest room and toilets and other
facilities for the Contractor’s site management
staff in accordance with the plans prepared by

1.14 Allow lump sum for constructing , maintaining,


dismantling and removal on completion of the
Works, buildings to be used as workshops and
stores for perishable materials. Buildings shall be
constructed in accordance with the drawings

altering modifying, or dismantling and reerecting
within the site all temporary buildings/

Setting out
1.20 Allow lump sum for employing a licensed land
surveyor to define the building site work etc,
check levels and carry out such other surveys as
may be necessary to establish accurately the
placing of forms and pouring of concrete and all
other setting out in both vertical and horizontal
plane. All survey marks and pegs shall be clearly
identifiable with accurate records kept on site by
the Contractor that must be related to "Bench
Marks".
In this regard the Contractor must maintain
accurate survey instruments on the site at all
times for any checking of levels that the Engineer
or his representative may desire to check.

The Contractor shall obtain a statement when the


work has substantially begun, signed by a
Licensed Land Surveyor certifying the correct
setting out of the work in accordance with the
drawings and such other additional statements
to suit the various stages of construction of the

1.21 Allow lump sum for setting out of Works in


accordance with drawings and other written
information given by the Engineer. The checking
of any setting out or of any line or level by the
Engineer shall not in any way relieve the
Contractor of his responsibility for the accuracy

1.22 Allow lump sum for provision of progress


reports including photographic records and
other schedules included in the ICTAD
publication – Guidelines for Effective

the number of Foremen.
ii. Particulars of materials and goods brought to
the site.
iii. Particulars of machinery & equipment
brought to or taken out of site.
iv. Rain fall records.
v. Accident or damage to property

guard rail in perimeter of every floors and
openings after finishing structural work, within
600 mm clear space from the external edge until

1.33 Allow for making adequate provisions to control


dust escaping to surrounding areas, from
construction work and demolition work such as
erecting and maintaining dust screens etc. Noise
from construction work and demolition work
shall be reduced to the minimum acceptable
limits The Contractor shall be responsible and
shall pay all claims and damages payable to
affected parties, arising from complaints or
action by such parties or by relevant state
authorities, in connection with the above.

No work in any trade shall be carried out in a


manner so as to cause any nuisance to adjacent
owners or the public.
Mechanical plant and equipment which emits
excessive noise, smoke, fumes, obnoxious gases
etc., will not be allowed to be used on the Site,

Services and Facilities

Allow for access to site. It shall be the


Contractor's responsibility to visit the site and
ascertain for himself the means of access in
relation to the location. It would be his
responsibility to ensure satisfactory maintenance
of the access road for movement of plant and
traffic. Any damages to public roads, pavements
etc., should be made good at the Contractor's

1.34 Allow lump sum for supply of water for the


Works and paying all charges and other expenses
in connection with the supply from water mains
or any other alternative method of water supply,
storage and reticulation. It is the sole
responsibility of the Contractor to ensure a
steady, uninterrupted adequate supply of water
required for main contract and nominated Sub

claim and the Employer shall not pay cost
incurred by the Contractor for using electric
power generators or for using other alternative
power supply methods in case there happened to
be disruptions to normal power supply due to

hoisting equipment and other construction
machinery for the use of the Works on site.

1.42 Allow for protection of public and private


services. The Contractor shall protect, uphold
and maintain all water and drain pipes, ducts,
sewers, service mains, overhead cables, etc.,
unless earmarked for demolition, during the

make good any damage due to any cause within
his control at his own expenses or pay any cost
and charges in connection therewith. In case
where the services are to be temporarily
terminated or diverted the Contractor is to give
the necessary notice to the appropriate Authority
and arrange for the works to be carried out and
pay all costs and charges in connection

1.43 Allow for care of adjoining properties. Care shall


be taken to ensure that the rights of all adjoining
and adjacent owners, tenants and the public are
fully respected. Immediately upon receipt of any

notify the Engineer. The Engineer shall be
informed of the corrective measures he intends
to employ. The Contractor will be held solely
responsible for any damage caused to the
adjoining and adjacent properties due to
carrying out works under this Contract and must
make good and or compensate the affected party
or parties as mutually agreed or as directed by

Note :

against dampness or moisture penetrating through
treated surface. The warranty shall be valid for a period
of 10 years commencing from the date of issue of

3D METAL WORK AND GLAZING

Refer Doors and windows schedule


NOTE:
The bidder shall qualify the Bid by furnishing the
particulars in connection with the item of Work
identified below and price accordingly. This is
subject to Employer’s approval. Type and thickness of
the glass panes in windows and doors shall be as
specified in Schedules issued by the Architect Refer
detail drawings and schedules for accurate sizes of
units, iron mongery etc. All doors and windows shall
be fabricated from extrusions as specified, including
frames, mullions, transoms, top rail and guides rails
and reinforcing sections where necessary to suit
marine condition. Where indicated in drawings
aluminium panels shall be made of composite sheets of
approved thickness texture and colour Glazing shall be
as stated in the drawings with double glazed in Saint
Gobient or approved equivalent.

The Bidder shall submit along with the Bid all technical
Information and detail of aluminium installation to be
used by the bidder technical information and detail of
aluminium Components which is proposed to be used by
the bidder. The Contractor shall submit detail shop
drawings as required by the Engineer for his approval
prior to commencement of fabrication of units. Rate
shall include all necessary Ironmongery items, locks and
fasteners (Hafele SS or approved equivalent) as per the
drawings to suit marine condition.
The aluminum windows, doors aluminum framed
partition etc. shall be, fabricated and installed by
specially trained tradesmen under the direction and
supervision of a competent Engineer. All metal
components to performed by complying with marine
conditions.
