1. Introduction & Scope:


1.1 This method of statement specifies the detailed requirement and comprehensive procedures for
Sprinklers installation works.

1.2 Applicable Project Specifications:

Mechanical Specifications Part A


Section: 21 13 00
Combined Fire Fighting System; sub section: 2.2 sprinkler heads
Standards – Civil Defense Authority and NFPA 13

2. Location of Activity:
Inside the building

3. Operation:
a. Materials
Materials to be used will be as approved by the Engineer and locations as per the approved shop
drawings and actual site condition.

b. Transportation & Storage at site:

Sprinklers should delivered to site in the standard manufacturers packing and must be handled
such that no damage to components, enclosure and finished can be avoided.
INSTALLATION OF SPRINKLER HEAD

1. All the sprinklers heads must be installed in accordance with NFPA 13 standard.
2. The system piping must be properly sized according to the approved drawings and calculation
to insure the minimum required flow rate at the sprinkler head.

3. Install the sprinkler heads after the piping is in the place to avoid mechanical damage.

4. In the event of a thread leak, remove the unit apply new pipe Teflon tape and re install.

5. Hands tighten the sprinkler into the fitting using the proper size of wrench.

6. To install the escutcheon plate, align it with and press it over the sprinkler body until the outer
edge of the escutcheon meets the mounting surface.

7. For Testing and verification, after the hydro testing for the sprinkler system as per approved
method of statement for Pressure Testing the Fire Fighting Pipes, release the pressure and
water from the pipes then install the sprinkler heads. Apply pressure with water to the
sprinkler system pipes with maintaining pressure as per approved hydraulic calculation to
ensure and verified all sprinklers without any leakage of water. There will be a testing required
by consultant and ADCD to break and open sprinkler to see the flow of water to its coverage
area during inspection.

4. Responsibilities:
4.1 The Project/Site Engineer will be responsible for the following:

4.1.1 To ensure that all the preparation and application works are carried out according to the
Contract Specification.
4.1.2 To ensure that the progress of works is carried out according to the planned program and as
per the approved Method Statement.
4.1.3 To ensure that all the equipments and materials required executing the work are available
according to the planned construction program.
4.1.4 To coordinate with the Main Contractor MEP Coordinator & Safety Officer for a safe and
proper execution of the works.
4.1.5 To provide all necessary information and distribute responsibilities to his construction team.
4.1.6 To monitor the progress of work in relation with the work program and report to the
Construction Manager.

4.2 The Foreman will be responsible for the following:

4.2.1 The foreman will carry out his duties by maintaining continuous coordination with the Site
Engineer on daily basis and ensure proper distribution of the workforce in the required and
planned locations.
4.2.2 To ensure that his assistant foreman/ charge hand are aware of the job requirements and
they have enough information to carry out their duties properly.
4.2.3 To ensure in consultation with the Site Engineer that the manpower involved in the works
are moving as agreed and planned for the work.
4.2.4 To ensure that the daily work is progressing as planned and as advised by the Site Engineer
of any requirement for additional resources.
4.2.5 To control disposal of waste materials according to the instructions received from the Site
Engineer.

4.2.6 To ensure full coordination with the Safety Officer to maintain safe working and proper
house keeping of the site, following the approved safety measures and further ensure that
all his working team are aware of the same to prevent accident and losses.
4.2.7 To inform the Project Engineer of the areas ready for inspection.

5 Tools and Equipments:

General tools and equipments that will be engaged for the Installation of fire sprinkler system shall consist
but not limited to the following:
 Grooving Machine
 Electric drill machine
 Welding Machine
 Threading machine
 Drill Machine
 Pipe wrench
 Spanner set
 Measuring tape.

6 work permit.

6.1 All work will be carried out through the work permit system.
6.2 Work permit attached.

7 Health and Safety:


Strictly followed as per the manufacturer’s Health & Safety recommendations for handling and use of the
materials. Ensure that all involved personnel shall be aware of the same.
