TRIANGULATION
Location/s: Along Technocore

Objectives: To perform triangulation

Reference Book: La Putt, Juny P. (1985) Surveying Lab Manual. p213-217

Intended Learning Outcomes:

To gather data for a low order triangulation system consisting of a chain of
single triangles.
To learn how to apply the approximate method of adjusting a triangulation
system and how to determine lengths of its unknown sides.

Establish the triangulation stations at designated places on the area assigned to

be surveyed. Call these stations A, B, C and so forth. Use chalk to mark these
stations. (See figure below)
Designate lines AB and DE as the base line and check base respectively.

At station A, measure in four repetitions each relevant horizontal angle and
record the observed values accordingly.
Repeat the preceding procedure of setting up the instrument and measuring
horizontal angles at all other designated triangulation stations.
Computations:

Tabulate observed and calculate values accordingly.

Conclusion:

Finally, we complete the triangulation by collecting the data utilizing

Automatic level, prism, and range poles, and we can determine the
distance between each point by computing the balance angles that we
acquire from each point. By doing so, we are able to determine the time
for a low order triangulation made up of a series of single triangles. We
can also figure out how to use a rough technique of altering the numbers
on a triangulation system, which will be useful in figuring out how long its
unknown sides are.
