1. Introduction to the Topic (10 minutes):

PRESENTATION OF THE TOPIC

Introducing the Topic for Grade 9 Quarter 2—Making Connections between Texts
and Social Issues. Presenting essential information regarding this type of analysis
and elaborating on the basic part of the aforementioned lesson.

ACTIVITY

Text Analysis: Students will read two different texts related to social issues and
analyze how these texts connect to real-life concerns. They will identify common
themes, character motivations, and societal problems presented in the texts.

Questions:

What social issues were addressed in the first text?


How did the characters in the second text respond to the societal problems they
faced?
What connections can you draw between the themes in the texts and real-life
situations?
