Have you ever gotten a nosebleed? There are actually several causes which can effect a
nosebleed, such as dry air, either from having theheat on winter or being in a hot, low humidity climate,
and other causes like blowing your nosetoo hard, injuries caused by a fall or getting hit in your nose,
side effects of medication, like blood thinners and allergies. Nosebleeds usually aren’t serious if
they happen only in some minutes, but if it happens too long, you should see a doctor to help you
stop it.
There are several tips to stop nose bleeding, before you see a doctor. The first, you should
stay calm. It means that you shouldn’t be nervous because if you are nervous, it can make you
bleed more, so try to relax. The second, keep your head above. It means that you should not lie
down. After that, lean a little bit forward. It is for keeping the blood from draining down the back
of your throat. And the last is pinching your nostrils closed. You can use your thumb and index
finger to hold your nostrils closed for 5 to 10 minutes while you breathe through your mouth.
This puts pressure on the part of your nose that’s bleeding and can make the blood stop flowing.
After the bleeding has stopped, do not touch or blow your nose because it can start bleeding again.
But if it does restart, you can gently blow your nose to get rid of any blood clots. You can also
spray a decongestant in both nostrils. Then pinch your nostrils shut and breathe through your
mouth for 5 to 10 minutes.
