Course Description:

Valuation and Negotiation of Technology course belongs to the common disciplinary field, it
seeks to provide skills to understand how protect, valuate and commercialize intellectual
property rights with the objective of promoting innovation of products, services and
processes and logistics systems.

The course has 3 academic credits, it is a theoretical course with a project-based learning
strategy, the course has three units containing these general topics: Intellectual property,
valuation methods and negotiation of technology.

2. Course Learning Purpose:

The course learning purpose is:

• Provide students with theoretical bases and necessary tools to create value from the
innovation of products, services, processes and systems, through the understanding

the importance of technology, its protection, value and adequate negotiation to
promote leading, productive, profitable and competitive companies in a
socioeconomic environment.

3. Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the course the student will be able to:

Learning Outcome 1: Recognize the value of intellectual property as an intangible asset in a


real environment.
Learning Outcome 2: Comprehend the importance of Intellectual property protection as a
facilitating tool in the development of technological innovation in companies in a real
environment.
Learning Outcome 3: Identify and apply technology valuation methods to establish the best
opportunity to create value from innovation in a real environment.
Learning Outcome 4: Prepare intangible assets negotiations through the creation of an
agreement in a real environment.

4. Learning Strategy:

The Learning Strategy for the course is: Project-based strategy.

This Learning Strategy is based on: The student as the protagonist of his own learning, in
this strategy problems are identified and result in the generation of projects that seek to
solve them, allowing students to explore and understand a topic, capturing their interest in
applying new knowledge in planning, implementing and evaluating projects with application
in the real world.

The Learning Strategy is organized in 5 Stages

The highest score for this activity is 25 points, corresponding to 5% of the course
evaluation.

The activities are: Read and review the bibliography for Unit 1, design a poster showing IP
concepts, record a video meeting suggesting a technological value proposal (innovation) in a
real environment, create a Wix page, consolidate the final work.

Evaluation of Stage 2
The evaluation criteria for this activity are:
• Recognize IP general concepts and processes to protect technology innovations
• Suggest a technological value proposal (innovation) in a real environment.
• Present the wix page to the specified guidelines

The highest score for this activity is 120 points.

Stage 3 Technology value


To be developed from week 7 to week 10
This responds to Learning Outcome: 3
The activities are: Read and review the bibliography for Unit 2, design a poster showing
valuation methods concepts, record a video meeting choosing the value method for the
innovation, feed the wix page and consolidate the final work.

Evaluation of Stage 3
The evaluation criteria for this activity are:
• Identify valuation methods for technology innovation
• Propose key aspects about the value for the innovation proposed in the project
• Present the wix page to the specified guidelines

The highest score for this activity is 110 points.

Stage 4 IT negotiations
To be developed from week 11 to week 14
This responds to Learning Outcome: 4
The activities are: Read and review the bibliography for Unit 3, design a poster showing the
main aspects to consider in a technology negotiation, record a video meeting debating about
the proposed clauses of an agreement to negotiate the innovation proposed for the project,
, feed the wix page and consolidate the final work.

Evaluation of Stage 4
The evaluation criteria for this activity are:

• Prepare a technology assets negotiations recognizing the main concepts of the head
of agreement document
• Propose the clauses of a head of agreement in a real environment based on the
studied contents
• Present the wix page to the specified guidelines

The highest score for this activity is 120 points.

The highest score for this evaluation moment is 350 points, corresponding to 70% of the
course evaluation.

Final Moment

Stage 5 Appropriation of the concepts

The activities are: Reply to the questionnaire evidencing the appropriation of the contents
studied along the course.

The evaluation criteria for this activity is:

The highest score for this activity is 125 points, corresponding to 25% of the course
evaluation.
