PROPOSED INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSPECTION OF COMBUSTOR REAR INNER CASE (CRIC) BOLTS &

SWAGE NUTS

1. Follow the instructions in NMSB72-AK269 up to 3. A. (2) (a) (v) (1) on page 9

2. Feed the borescope 360 degrees down and around the inspection cavity see Fig. 1-3 below,
until the borescope entry is visible. Make sure all 36 of the CRIC Bolts/Swage Nuts will be
visible when withdrawing the borescope.

3. Inspect each of the CRIC Bolts and Swage Nuts, there are 36 of them. Assign each CRIC
Bolt/Nut a location number. Record a video of the entire inspection and photograph each of
the 36 inspection locations. Inspection findings to be recorded:
a. Against each of the 36 locations note if there is a Swage Nut present, see Fig. 4
b. Against each of the 36 locations note if there is a CRIC Bolt visible, see Fig. 5
c. If a CRIC Bolt and Swage Nut are visible, count the threads on the bolt that are
visible, see Fig. 6

5. Follow the instructions in NMSB72-AK269 for close-up and to return the engine to a
serviceable condition
