NARRATIVE REPORT

The researcher title defense was conducted at Muntinlupa National High School in
the room of STEM - 1108, from 10:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. on March 12 2024. The
research title defense started off with a prayer and continued with the first 3 groups.

During the title defense of the 4th group, the first 2 titles were disregarded so they
proceeded to the 3rd topic, which is entitled "Recycled Materials: a Base for an
Automatic Segregation Vacuum Cleaner”. The researchers discussed that the 3rd topic
which will aim to create a vacuum cleaner that detects, segregates Biodegradable from
Non-Biodegradable waste, and help the people to maximize the efficiency in cleaning. The
panelists suggested that creating an automatic segregation vacuum cleaner will prove to be
a challenge, since the required materials in detecting whether or not an object is
Biodegradable or Non- biodegradable is very difficult to achieve. That is why the panelist
instead suggested to just create a vacuum cleaner without an automatic segregation system
since a vacuum cleaner is intended to only pick up small trash.

As the 4th group’s title defense came to an end, the panelists decided to
approve their 3rd topic with their given suggestion in improving the device. After
the defense of the 4th group that concluded the research title defense of STEM –
1108.

TITLE PROPOSALS

The Use of Dry Leaves as a Substitute

In Paper Production

Null Hypothesis
- The researchers are trying to prove that any kind of dried leaves can be used in making paper.

Alternative Hypothesis
- Specific dried leaves can be used in paper production such as dried pineapple leaves.

Materials Needed for the Research:

 Sodium Hydroxide
 Sodium Peroxide
 Dried Leaves (5 kinds)
 Mango Leaves
 Langka Leaves
 Bayabas Leaves
 Tuba Tuba Leaves
 Duhat Leaves

Methodology Experimentation:
Creating Paper from Dried Leaves Checking for the following factors:
1. Gather dried leaves  Durability
 Solubility
2. Cutting the dried leaves
 Color
3. Cleaning dried leaves with water.  Feasibility
4. Boil dried leaves
5. Add Sodium Hydroxide
6. Blend the dried leaves
7. Pour in a container
8. Use a paper mold to strain the pulp
The Recycling of Wasted Banana Stem: An Alternative
For Various Paper Products

Null Hypothesis
- The researchers are trying to prove that a Banana Stem can produce paper that can be used to make
paper bags, paper cups, and more. In our experiment, we aim to demonstrate that the fibers extracted from
a banana stem can be processed to create high-quality paper suitable for various purposes such as crafting
paper bags, paper cups, and other items.

Alternative Hypothesis
- Banana fibers can be transformed into high-quality paper suitable for a variety of applications, including
crafting tissue, paper, cloth, yarn, and other items.

Materials Needed for the Research:

 Sodium Hydroxide
 Wasted Banana Stem

Methodology Experimentation:
Creating paper from Wasted Banana Stem Checking for the following factors:
1. Gather wasted Banana stem leaves  Various paper products
2. Cut banana stem into small piece  Notebook
3. Boil the water for the banana stem  Paper bag
4. Ready specific amount of sodium hydroxide  Paper cup
5. After boiling water add the banana stem  Durability
 Solubility
6. Add sodium hydroxide
 Color
7. Strain the stem banana that you’ve boiled  Feasibility
8. Blend the banana stem
9. Pour banana stem container with water add
water for final outcome
10. Strain the banana stem to get fiber on it
11. Then let it dry
Recycled Materials: a Base for an Automatic
Segregation Vacuum Cleaner
Null Hypothesis
- The researchers are trying to prove that recycled materials can be used as a base to support a vacuum
cleaner.

Alternative Hypothesis
- Recycled materials can be used in various products such as bricks.

Materials Needed for the Research:

 Recycled materials (cardboard, plastic bottles, etc.)
 Motor
 Wheels
 Sensor
 Small Fan
 Arduino Uno
 Arduino Motor Shield
 Servo Motor
 Ultra Sonic Sensor

Methodology
Creating Vacuum Cleaner from Waste Materials
1. Prepare the following materials
2. Combine the wheels with motors for the wheel set
3. Cut a plastic bottle
4. Get a motor and combine it with a small fan
5. Put the builded motor and small fan to the plastic bottle 6. Program the arduino
7. Combine all the wires
8. Combine all the parts that is made

Experimentation:
Checking for the following factors:

 Effectiveness
 Duration of use
 Durability
