Lesson objectives
In this live part of the lesson, you will practise following and giving instructions
and learn how to order instructions so that they are easy to follow. You'll also
practise pronunciation (stressing key words) that you learned before the lesson.

Language focus 1: Describing a Process
1. First, you need to make sure the scanner is connected to the
computer.
2. Now / Secondly, switch on the scanner and open the lid.
3. Next, you need to look at the screen and click on the scan button
here.
4. So now / Then we just click on scan and look at the preview.
5. Finally click on the accept tab and it will ask you where to save your
scan.

Language focus 1: Pronunciation (Sentence Stress)

1. First, you need to make sure the scanner is connected to the

Task Preparation
Pick one of the examples of hardware or software that we’ve talked about today. In small
groups, you will prepare a tutorial on how to use that piece of equipment in an office. You
will then present your tutorial to the whole class.

You should:

- use language for sequencing your tutorial (e.g. First, Next…)

- speak for 2-3 minutes

- make sure that everybody in the group speaks (decide who will present what!)

- use imperatives or should for giving instructions (e.g. Press the green button or You
should make sure you download the most recent version)
