I am currently employed as the ViSOR administrator for the Milton Keynes office at Thames

Valley police. I have worked in role for the past two years on a part time basis and have
thoroughly enjoyed my time here however I am now in a position to take on a full time role.
Both of my children are now teenagers and I find myself looking for a new challenge.
Having worked within ViSOR for the past two years I am keen to build upon the knowledge
of foundation I have already built whilst at the same time seek to gain an understanding of
how different offices and of course different forces policies and procedures.
I currently live with my family in the Grange Park of Northampton and have resided in
Northampton for some 16 years. Therefore I have extensive geographical knowledge of the
local area.
Having spent 20 years as a Prison Officer at HMP Onley demonstrating my extensive
knowledge of working with and managing offenders. I decided I needed a change and have
sought administration roles within interesting and diverse offices ever since.
In my current role I’m a proficient user of Visor, PNC PND Niche and Command and Control.
I also use Microsoft Word and Excel systems.
Having 2 years’ experience in the Visor office I’m familiar with the MAPPA processes. I have
set agendas for the monthly Mappa Level 2 meetings and also attended to take minutes and
then distribute to attendees and upload minutes to Visor. I have also attended Level 3
meetings and again taken minutes. I currently complete the level one reviews, conducting
research on Command and Control, Niche Visor, PNC and PND and voters for intel which can
be fed back in the level two meetings.
As a project I have worked alongside my Sergeant with Chadwick Lodge secure hospital
with regard to RSO’s being resident in the hospital who are not managed by Visor MK office
as they have come from out of area. The purpose of this project was to collate the
information regarding out of area nominals having both supervised and unsupervised leave
and how to effectively manage this risk. I did this by helping to develop and facilitate
potential absconding packs.
I am highly proficient in the use of the national ViSOR database; I conduct daily tasks with
regards to the inputting of information into the system. I am responsible for inputting all
notifications and the subsequent amendment of the diary system. I am also responsible for
entering all relevant information captured by offender managers during the initial home
visits. Due to the ever increasing workload I discussed the potential of me reviewing
nominals diaries and making contact with them myself to remind them about their annual
notification. All of the offender managers were supportive of this idea and I have adopted
this additional duty to reduce their workloads and increase the efficiency of the working
environment within the office. Another task I have taken on is reviewing the local
intelligence system (Niche) to ensure imperative information can be fed back to offender
managers about their nominals; whether this is due to other forms of criminality or
intelligence. I am confident communicator and will liaise with PPO’s to make them aware of
any urgent information.
I have attended and completed the MOSAVO course and I am fully aware of the Notification
Requirements as well as qualifying offences as determined by the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
I am fully au fait with civil court orders including SHPO’s as well SRO’s. I will regularly make
direct contact with the courts to request the relevant documents and amend ViSOR
accordingly.
As the a central point in the office I very often take calls and deal with information coming
into the office from various agencies. I liaise regularly with the Milton Keynes approved
premise, Milton Keynes NPS and other police forces. I will regularly conduct checks on
accommodation from outside areas including both police and probation teams in order to
assist them with approving potential move on addresses.
Due to the high case load in the office and the varying shift patterns I can often be the only
person in the office throughout the day; I therefore work on my own initiative and have to
prioritise my work load accordingly. All of the roles I have held from the prison service to
my current role I have demonstrated high levels of discretion and integrity due to the
sensitive and confidential nature of this work.
I take great personal pride in being able to assist the PPO’s as much as possible as the
office is extremely busy. I have regularly volunteered to attend home visits, completed
annual notifications and travel notifications at the police station. This has meant that the
PPO’s are supported and has also given me the opportunity to learn more about the
offenders they are responsible for managing.
As well as the above I also ensure the office is fully stocked with the required stationary as
well as the relevant packaging required for seizing an array of items.
