CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Department of Education (DepEd) 3

(Central Luzon) announced on Tuesday the conduct of the Central Luzon Regional
Athletic Association (CLRAA) Meet on April 24-28 in various playing venues in the
region.

DepEd-3 Director May Eclar said the move is in accordance with the department
order, which provides that division meets and regional meets shall be conducted on
Feb. 6-10 and April 24-28, respectively, as recommended by the Palarong Pambansa
Secretariat.

“We are delighted to hold the CLRAA once again after more than three years as a
result of the pandemic because our learners who excel in various sports activities will
once again be given the opportunity to further improve their skills and discipline
relative to their respective sports category,” Eclar said in a statement.

The regional sports meet opening program will be held simultaneously at the DepEd-
3 office covered court and other playing venues in the region.

The participants in the regional sporting event are elementary and secondary school
students, as well as junior and senior high school learners from public and private
schools who participated in the local meets.

The sports events include archery, arnis, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball,
basketball 3×3, billiards, boxing, chess, dance sport, football, futsal, gymnastics, para
games, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, tennis, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball,
wrestling, and wushu.

The regional athletic meet is in preparation for the pre-national qualifying meet, an
additional tier before the conduct of the Palarong Pambansa, which will be held in
Marikina City from July 29 to August.

Eclar said the pre-national qualifying meet aims to decrease the number of
delegations, shorten the duration of the event, and reduce the expenses to be
incurred without sacrificing the level of play.
As such, she said, the new level would only feature team sports, such as baseball,
basketball, football, futsal, sepak takraw, softball, and volleyball.

Under the new tier, delegations will be clustered into four groups based on their
geographical location.

Cluster 1 comprises the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and Cordillera
Administrative Region; Cluster 2 is made up of Calabarzon, Mimaropa, National
Capital Region, and Bicol Region; Cluster 3 includes Western, Central and Eastern
Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula; and Cluster 4 covers Northern Mindanao, Davao,
Soccksargen, Caraga, and BARMM.

The top two regional delegations per cluster will then advance to the actual Palarong
Pambansa event.

Measurable sports, such as athletics, swimming, and archery, will adopt the qualifying
distance, time, and points set by the Palarong Pambansa.

On the other hand, other sports that do not apply qualifying standards in the
selection of athletes and are not identified as team sports will advance directly to the
Palarong Pambansa culminating competitions.

“The modified competition format aims to prevent the disruption of classes and to
observe minimum public health and safety protocols,” Eclar added. (PNA)

Essay on Importance of Water: Water is one of the most important substances on earth.
All plants and animals must have water to survive. If there was no water there would be no
life on earth. Water is a major part of the earth’s surface, covering about 70%. It is important
to maintain the quality of surface water, because it is a major source of drinking water for
humans and animals.

Water is available in abundance on Earth. It is present on the surface of Earth as

well as beneath it. The water bodies present on Earth’s surface include rivers,
ponds, seas and oceans. The surface water evaporates due to the excessive heat of
Sun. It is circulated in the atmosphere and forms clouds that burst and reach the
Earth’s surface in the form of rain. Thus, the water that evaporates gets replenished
by the natural process of water cycle which occurs continuously. This helps in
maintaining the eco system and makes our planet worth living.

While Earth is filled with plenty of water, fresh water is very small part of it and its
amount is only decreasing by the day. It is sad but true that due to various human
activities and human negligence, the water present on Earth is getting polluted.
Fresh water is getting depleted as the water bodies are being polluted due to
industrial as well as domestic waste.

It is high time we must understand the importance of water in our lives and the
necessity to save it. There are many simple ways in which we can avoid wastage of
water such as bathing with less water, watering plants with waste water from RO,
cleaning the car with a wet cloth rather than pipe, etc. We must also use the method
of rain water harvesting to collect rain water. This way we can contribute our bit to
save water.

What is Walking Pneumonia?

"Walking pneumonia" is an informal term for a common bacterial

condition. It produces milder symptoms that appear more gradually
than in other types of more serious pneumonia. Symptoms may
include cough, fever, sore throat, headache, runny nose, ear pain
and chest pain from coughing.

Symptoms usually appear within two to three weeks of becoming

infected and can continue for weeks. A cough could continue for
months.

With walking pneumonia, you may feel like you have a cold. But
symptoms are usually mild, so you likely won't need bed rest or a
hospital stay. You may not feel the need to stay home from work or
school. So you may be out walking around. That's how the illness
got its name.

While anyone can be infected with walking pneumonia, it's most

common in children, especially those ages 5 to 15 years old. This
illness is often brought home by young children who get it at school
and then infect family members.
Walking pneumonia is contagious. It's spread through airborne droplets
from close contact, such as coughing, sneezing or speaking. People with
lowered immunity may get more severely ill. You can be contagious long
after you no longer have symptoms.

To help prevent walking pneumonia, wash your hands often with soap
and water for 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use hand
sanitizer. Cover your mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. If you
don't have a tissue, bend your arm toward you and cough or sneeze into
your elbow — not your hands.
