1. Addition
2. Mathematical sums including the number 20
3. Interactive game

General Objectives
1. To enable students to further learn the numeral “20”
2. To improve the knowledge of addition and counting to “20”
3. To enable students to learn how to solve questions by adding digits together to get the
number “20”

1. The students will be able to properly count to the number “20”
2. The students will be able to add digits together to get 20.
3. The students will be able to determine the combination of digits when added that would
give them the sum of “20” and differentiate it from combination of digits that when
added will not get “20”.

Teaching Aids Used – White board, duster, markers, worksheet etc.

Instructional Teaching Aids
Collaboration: The use of an interactive activity which will incorporate team work to peek their
interest on addition arriving at the answer “20”.

Previous Knowledge assumed

The students are assumed to have previous knowledge and an understanding of the numeral 20 as
a number that is made using the digit 2 and 0. However, some lack the understanding of how to
apply proper counting while attempting addition sums. For example: They may skip numbers
when counting, so when they attempt to add both digits; 15 and 5, they arrive at an incorrect
answer; 18.

Previous Knowledge testing

In order to test the previous knowledge of the students. The teacher will ask the following
questions.
a) What two digits can be used to write the number 20?
b) Let me hear you count to 20.
c) Which two sets when combined will give you 20?

Introduction
The teacher will introduce the topic “See it, count it, add it” to the Students by displaying images
that appeal to their visual senses. This will be done through the use of a drawings on the board.
Presentation
Methodology The students will be placed into two separate
groups. Each group will be provided with a
container of blocks and asked to create a set
containing 20 blocks.
A song will also be played after to help them
remember adding and counting.

Assessment Students are given an activity through

worksheet. Students will be requested to
complete the exercise by adding the digits
together to get ‘20’.
