Introduction: In this lesson, we will discuss the program for the year, including
the themes and assessments. Then, we will look at some jobs in the
communications field and you will have some time to practice the language
learnt in a role-play.

additional assignments or to complete certain exercises at home. In order to
best prepare for the final exam, you are responsible for learning the content of
this program even if your teacher makes minor modifications to the program.
Activity 1: Get to Know You Activity – Two Truths and a Lie
Get into a group of 4. Each person writes a total of three statements. Two of
them are true and one is false. The other people in the group must guess which
one is the false statement

Get ready to discuss what you find with your teacher.

Activity 2: Getting started: What is communication? Discuss the following


points:
1. How has communication changed over time?
2. What tools are used to communicate today?
3. What impact have these tools had on our society?
4. How do companies communicate with their customers in today’s
society?
5. Why did you choose to study communication?
6. Brainstorm a list of jobs in the communication field.

Activity 3: Describing Jobs: Listening Comprehension


Now your teacher will play three audio files about people describing their jobs.
Listen carefully and try to fill in the table below.

Activity 4: Networking Role Play

Now using the vocabulary we have seen before, make your own role-play card.

Scenario: You have been invited at an international communications conference


in Barcelona. You need to meet and exchange with as many people as possible
to network.

Imagine you have your dream job. You must talk about this job with other
people you meet and as them questions about their jobs.

Role-Play Card: You must include the following points on your card:

Feel free to invent any information you aren’t sure about.

Now you must ‘network’ with at least two or more people and find out
