MAINTENANCE OF HEAVY MACHINERY FOR CONSTRUCTION
INTRODUCTION
In today's world, heavy equipment plays a pivotal role across a wide range of
industries, from construction and mining to agriculture and logistics. These machines,
ranging from excavators and dump trucks to cranes and tractors, are indispensable
for tasks requiring superior strength and carrying capacity. Their significance is
evident in their ability to drive infrastructure development, enhance efficiency in
agricultural production, and facilitate global goods transportation logistics.
Furthermore, technological advancements in this field, including features such as
automation and telemetry, are transforming how these machines are utilized and
managed, boosting their efficiency and safety. In summary, heavy equipment stands
as a cornerstone in the contemporary global economy, driving progress and
productivity across key industries.
QUESTIONS:
1. What is the importance of Car Sensors?
A car sensor is an electronic device that monitors various aspects of the vehicle and
sends information to the driver or ECU (Electronic Control Unit). In certain
situations, the ECU automatically makes adjustments to the particular component
based on the information received from the sensor. Among the importance we
have:
o Sensors can monitor various aspects of a car, such as its temperature, coolant
system, engine, oil pressure, emission levels, vehicle speed, etc.
o The human sense organs (eyes, nose, mouth, tongue and hands) are the best
examples to understand the working principle of sensors. They send signals to the
brain, which then makes a decision.
o Similarly, car sensors send signals to the ECU to make appropriate adjustments or
warn the driver.
o Engine speed sensor: It monitors the spinning speed and position of the crankshaft.
o Camshaft position sensor: It monitors the position and proper timing of the camshaft.
If you never perform equipment maintenance, you may not learn about underlying
issues until it’s too late. Do the smart thing and maintain your equipment to save
both time and money. Instead of having to replace an entire piece of heavy
equipment (which is expensive) you can perform a few simple repairs for a fraction
of the cost.
Heavy equipment that doesn’t undergo routine maintenance checks requires more
fuel because it doesn’t operate at peak efficiency. While the cost may not seem
significant for one piece of equipment, it adds up when you consider fuel costs for
a fleet of heavy equipment.
3) Minimize Repairs
