Following are the main results of the short-circuit study on the electrical power system of the project

"Mawei SY 75M PSV&ORV”. The study is aimed at checking system short-circuit levels.
The calculations are based on the data for generators, transformers and motors listed in table 1 in

The study is initiated to check switchboard and main circuit breaker ratings against system short-circuit

levels with running mode as specified in chapter 3. Maximum fault current is assessed to evaluate
switchboard and circuit breaker thermal and mechanical withstand capabilities. Minimum fault current
is required for protective device co-ordination.

The EDSA (Electrical Distribution System Analysis) program package calculates the short circuit
current according IEC 363.

Short-circuit current calculations are done in accordance with IEC 363, and are based on the system

data provided in the Input Data Report in Appendix F. This IEC publication describes in detail how the
short circuit current vary as a function of time. However IEC 363 only has the possibility to calculate

three phase (balanced) short circuit currents.

The calculating formulae and methods described in IEC 363 produce sufficiently accurate results to
calculate the short-circuit current during the first 100ms of a fault condition. For time beyond 100 ms
the controlling effects of the system voltage regulators may be predominant. Calculations including the
