CNHS GRADE 12 CHEER DANCE COMPETITION

A. MECHANICS AND GUIDELINES

1. The Cheer dance competition will be held at Calinan National High School open field at exactly
12:30 PM. The assembly areas will be in the covered court and areas in the open field at 12:00 PM.
The class chairpersons/managers shall draw lots to determine the sequence of the actual
performance.
2. Each section is entitled to enter a minimum of forty (40) and a maximum of sixty-five (65)
participants in number including the spotters and/or props men for the team.

3. The entire duration of the performance must be a minimum of four (4) minutes but not exceed
five (5) minutes, exclusive of 30 seconds pre-setting and 30 seconds exit/pack-up and clean-
up. If the presentation exceeds 1 second, 1 POINT SHALL BE AUTOMATICALLY DEDUCTED
FROM EACH JUDGES TOTAL SCORE.

4. The routine parameters:


● The routines are cheers and yells, cheer-dance routine piece, two-layer/level
stunts, basic tumbling and basic jumps. NO THROWING STUNTS ALLOWED. The
evaluation of the cheering will not be judged as a stands-alone element rather as part
of the Overall Performance.
5. The order of the performance is:
● First, the cheers or yells for not more than ONE (1) MINUTE
● Second, the cheer-dance routine piece must not exceed FOUR (4) MINUTES
6. Cheers/chants must be yelled by the dancers live (not pre-recorded). All routines must be
appropriate for family viewing. No vulgar or suggestive movements, words, or music are permitted.
Uniforms must also be appropriate for cheer dance.
7. All props must be registered and cleared with the P.E. subject teachers prior to the performance.
Pyrotechnics and other similar dangerous or hazardous props are strictly prohibited. There is a limit
of only two (2) hand-held “safe props” to be used by the dancers (ex: pompoms, flaglets, placards,
banner).
8. Safety measures, proper etiquette and wearing proper attire must be observed before and during
the cheerdance practices and performance.
9. No outsider or professional Trainor shall be allowed in the preparation of the performance.
10. No practices shall be allowed outside the school campus.

Practices and preparations for the performance shall be done inside the school
during onsite class hours and off-site class schedules with parent consent. No parent
consent, no practice. (Parent consent shall be given by the P.E. teachers)

11. Submission of the final music will be on December 8, 2023, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Grade 12
faculty. Please look for Ma’am Doreen Sedentario. Kindly use a flash drive to submit the music.

12. The team/section caught violating any of the above-mentioned mechanics will be subjected to
disqualification.

B. CRITERIA FOR JUDGING

A. Choreography - 35%
● Choice of Elements, Synchronization, and Movements – 15% ;
● Style and Originality – 10%;
● Artistry 10%
B. Performance - 60%
● Mastery, Virtuosity, and Fluidity – 10%
● Projection & Expression – 10%
● Basic Stunts (Technique, Creativity, Quantity) – 20%
● Costume & Props (Visual Appeal and Artistry) - 20%
C. Audience Impact - 5%
