CHEER DANCE COMPETITION

OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATION


THEME: MAPEH Culminating Activity

I. GENERAL
1. The following rules and regulations are to be in effect for all practices and the competition
proper.
2. All teams must be supervised during the practices and competition by a qualified and
knowledgeable coach.
3. All participants agree to conduct themselves in a manner displaying good sportsmanship
throughout the event.
4. Coaches should recognize the squad's ability level and should limit activities accordingly.
5. Strictly no instructors/coaches outside the campus, choreographer to be paid.
6. All participants must adopt a comprehensive conditioning and strengthening building
program.
7. All coaches, directors and advisors must have an emergency action plan in the event of an
injury.
8. The team shall compose of the Grade 10 section.
9. Each team will be given three (3) minutes to five (5) minutes for the routine. Timer starts upon
the first yell/cheer, dance, start of music, or whichever comes first.
10. An appropriate warm-up routine should precede all cheer dancing activities.
11. Any team member who may acquire injury will not be allowed to continue the routine. A
substitution may be made as long he/she falls under the qualifications.
12. Any team proven in violation of the rules and regulations will be automatically disqualified
from the event.
13. Participants are allowed to select their own music.

II. PROPS, COSTUMES AND STUNTS


1.Costumes and props shall be provided by the cheer dancers.
2. Only moves and materials that are stable and safe will be part of the routines, it is purely
floor exercises (pyramids, stunts, lifting, throwing and tumbling are strictly prohibited).
3. Props must be handled with care in taking in and out of the competition area.
4. Athletic footwear is required Wearing socks, tights or other slippery foot covering is not
allowed.
5. Wearing of any jewelry is prohibited.
6. The use of mini trampolines, springboards and other height-increasing apparatus is
prohibited.
7.Cheers must be relevant to the theme and yells should be uttered positively.
8. Costume, props; yells and other parts of the routine must be in accordance to the school's
restrictions.
9. Glitters and sequins on bodies, costumes or props are not allowed as these may cause danger
if detached and left on the floor.
10. The following are prohibited at any point of the routine: liquid, flammable
materials, confetti, powder, firecrackers and any hard or heavy materials that may destroy the
gym's floor during entry or exit.
11. All groups are given 3 minutes to clear up the area with all the materials utilized after the
routine.
12. Decision of the board of Judges is final and irrevocable.
III. CRITERIA FOR JUDGING
a. Choreography and Synchronization 30%
b. Overall Relevance to the Theme 25%
c. Cheers and Music 15%
d. costume ang props. 15%
e. Overall Impact 15%
TOTAL 100%
 Penalties in case of violations will be deducted in the final score:
Not within allotted time (less than 3 or more than 5 min.) 1point deduction per minute, Costumes,
props and stunts violations DISQUALIFICATIONS

IV AWARD AND PRIZES


Certificates will be given to the deserving winners.
