Tack welding is the welding technique that we use for
temporary welds that hold parts together ready for
final welding. It maintains the desired alignment and gap between the pieces of metal being joined. In the first part of the video, it shows that we need to tack first both ends for the preparation for lap joint and tee joint. C pattern is the weave pattern that we use in this welding. It is a semi-circular crescent weave, and the angle of the welding rod should be 45 degree. Flat and horizontal positions are used in lap joints then, Vertical up which is the welding starts on the bottom to up are used in tee joints. Body posture is also important in welding, bad posture may lead to poor welds which may need to be repeated. The video also shows how our body postures should be when we perform welding. He positions himself in a stable, and comfortable posture. The position of the welding metal is as flat as possible, on a horizontal surface, between waist and elbow height. Our teacher did not also bend towards the process of welding metal and only his dominant hand is moving.
