Methodology/Procedures
Introductory Activity How do you collect data through observation?
Activity/Strategy Show a video of a subject in which learners served as observers. Let them record
their observation regarding the reaction of the people and their characteristics or
behavior. Call some volunteers to share their observation.
Analysis How did you observe the subject? How did you record your observation? Did you
involve your emotion to what is happening?
Abstraction Observation is a technique of gathering data whereby one personally
watches, interacts, or communicates with the subjects of research.
Types of Observation
1. Parcticipant observation – the observer takes part in the activities of
the individual or group being observed.
2. Non-participant or Structured Observation – the observer detaches
oneself from the target of observation
Methods of Observation
1. Direct Observation – makes one to see and listen to everything that
happens in the area of observation
2. Indirect Observation – also called as behavior archaeology in which
traces of past events are observed to get information or a measure
of behavior
Application Collect data through observation.
