Essay: How can schools help during the exam period?

All students suffer from stress during the exam period. But how can schools help them to go
through minimizing stress? Teachers can support students during this time. And structuring a revision
timetable prior to exams can also bring some benefits. In the following paragraphs I will discuss both
these options.
I want to begin with brainstorming of several ideas how teachers can help students in this
case. First of all, teachers can give a list with questions for the exam. Students can prepare answers
exactly for these questions and learn not the whole material which have been given during the
semester. Secondly, teachers can make several examinations during the semester checking smaller
parts of information. Such exams don‘t need big preparations with a lot of information. Next, they can
give more practical tasks at the exam asking less questions about theory. Because it gives a teacher an
impression how a student can practically work without asking lots of definitions which he or she
should know by heart.
Another way to reduce stress for students during exams is to structure a revision timetable
prior to exams. Students can learn the information in small chunks during the semester. They can also
ask teachers to give several revision lectures only with the information that will be asked at the exam.
Next, to study the whole day is not appropriate and can make the study not very effective. The main
reason for this is that students will become very tired and can‘t remember much information.
In my view, both methods can crucial help students in reducing stress during exams. But
personally speaking, I think that help of teachers is more beneficial for students than they study
alone. This is because teachers know what exactly should be learned and can define gaps in
knowledge by students and give them necessary material.
