Public Lecture : Career Opportunities for Young Researchers and Lecturers

On Thursday, March 28, 2024 a Public Lecture was held with the theme "Career
Opportunities for Young Researchers and Lecturers". The activity began at 4.00 PM and took
place in the Hall of the Institute of Design and Business Bali. This public lecture was
attended by IDB Bali collegers, lecturers, and also other IDB Bali civitas.

The speaker of this public lecture was Dr. Rian Adi Pamungkas, S.Kep, MNS, PHN as
Vice Rector II for Research Development and Innovation from Esa Unggul University
Jakarta. This public lecture aims to introduce career opportunities for young researchers and
lecturers to the audience. The event was opened by the MC, then the audience was asked to
stand up to sing the Indonesia Raya song. The event continued with remarks from the
chairman of the committee as well as the moderator in this public lecture, namely Gede
Dharma Arya Wicaksana, S.Pd., M. Pd.

Then, continued to the main event, namely the presentation of public lecture material
"Career Opportunities for Young Researchers and Lecturers" by Dr. Rian. At the beginning of
this session he told briefly about his biography and current life. Entering the material, he
began by discussing the lecturer development scheme. Which, here are discussed the
problems that occur in the career of a lecturer. These include the internal mechanisms of PTN
/ LLDikti and in the ministry that continue to change, the establishment of special
requirements for articles in reputable international journals, and lecturers who do not conduct
research. He also discussed the clustering of universities and the role of lecturers in the
rankings.

Furthermore, he explained the importance of doing Tri Dharma. He explained that


lecturers are professional educators and scientists with the main task of transforming,
developing, and disseminating knowledge through research and community service. Then, he
continued to explain why lecturers need to research and the impact that will arise if lecturers
do not conduct research. Here, he also explained the importance of journal publications for
institutions.

Finally, he explained about research opportunities for both collegers and lecturers, as
well as the reasons why they should soar as young researchers. In the session, he also told a
lot about colleger lectures at Esa Unggul University Jakarta. He also mentioned a little about
collegers who participated in research from a lecturer, the benefits obtained by collegers, and
the grant funds obtained. He also emphasized the importance of skills, both soft skills and
hard skills, in the work life.

After the public lecture session, the event continued with a question and answer
session. In this session Dr. Rian answered one of the audience's questions about how to
conduct a research, especially in writing a report. In the middle of his answer he said "...We
won't get experience if we don't live it,".

Towards the end of the event, a memento was handed over as a form of appreciation.
During this session, a plaque and certificate were also handed over to Dr. Rian. The public
lecture then ended with a group photo session.
