1. You are a business manager who would like to change the company’s policy towards a humane
business approach. Being more ethical means that the company will need to spend money, such as
giving employees more benefits, giving poor customers discounts, replacing the company's gas-
powered vehicles with electric cars…etc. You will put hypothetical costs (investments), such as
500000 dollars to provide workers with dental care plans, 700000 dollars spent for giving low-
income customers discounts, 2000000 dollars to replace the company’s fleet…etc. Now, you will

need to provide the decision-makers with a detailed and justified list of the
direct and indirect profit the company will make by applying such a plan. An example of a profit
the company can make. An example of the profit the company can make is receiving tax breaks
from the government for donations to humanitarian organizations. (Minimum 2 pages double-
spaced). You will need to explain and justify the investments on the human side of the business
and the return on investment) (10 Marks)
2. One time, assume that you are a business manager who would like to write a code of ethics based
on totalitarian(collective) ethical thinking. Another time, you will adopt an individual (capitalistic)
approach in designing an organizational code of ethics. (Minimum 2 pages double-spaced).
You will need to justify and explain how each code of ethics reflects, one-time individualism and
one-time collectivism) (10 Marks)
3. You are making an ethical decision of removing the cap on the retirement age. So, instead of
letting go of employees who reach 65 years old, there will be no retirement age. Please, use the 7-
step scientific decision-making process to make such a decision. You will need to use external
sources as a source of information to support your decision. You will need to apply the 7 steps
discussed in the lectures. (10 Marks)
